This is literally right by my house and it was like I have never seen it before. And it's usually quite busy during Sunday mass.

Polish pilots on Kaczynski jet 'saw crash coming'

A black box voice recording from the Polish jet which crashed in Russia shows the pilots knew they were about to crash, Polish officials say.

Polish chief prosecutor Andrzej Seremet said it was clear the crew knew disaster was "inevitable" after the plane hit tree-tops.

A Russian source said the tape showed the pilots had not been pushed by their VIP passengers into taking risks.

Poland's president and numerous other top figures died in Saturday's crash.

The bodies of Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria were the first to be repatriated from Russia.

Poland, which is in national mourning all of this week, received the remains of 35 other victims on Thursday, including those of Ryszard Kaczorowski, the last leader of Poland's government-in-exile during the period of communist rule.

In all, 67 of the 96 victims have been brought back from Russia. Most of the remains, believed to be badly disfigured and burnt, were taken to Moscow for identification shortly after the crash in the western region of Smolensk.

Mr Kaczynski and his wife are to be given a state funeral in the city of Krakow on Sunday, with world leaders including US President Barack Obama set to attend.

However, Poles are divided over whether the late leader, whose popularity ratings had fallen sharply, should be interred in Krakow's Wawel Cathedral, a site traditionally reserved for Poland's kings and heroes.

'Dramatic' seconds

Russian investigators, who have been working in conjunction with their Polish counterparts, said soon after the crash that the jet's pilots had disregarded repeated warnings from Russian air traffic controllers to land at an alternative airport because of heavy fog at Smolensk.

Some have suggested the crew were under pressure to land regardless because they were carrying their passengers to a memorial at nearby Katyn, where Stalin's secret police massacred Polish military officers during World War II.

An unnamed source close to the investigation in Moscow told Russia's Interfax news agency on Thursday that no evidence had been found in the flight recorders that "any of the high-ranking passengers forced the pilots to land near Smolensk".

"The panel's analysis, namely data from the black boxes, shows that it was the pilot's mistake that caused the crash," the source added.

Poland's chief military prosecutor, Krzysztof Parulski, rejected the Russian report as "speculation" and warned that it was too early to draw any conclusions since the investigation was still ongoing.

Mr Seremet, for his part, told Polish radio: "The crew was aware of the inevitability of the coming catastrophe, if only due to the plane shaking after the wings hit the trees - which we are certain happened."

Col Zbigniew Rzepa, a Polish military prosecutor, said the pilots had been aware of the imminent crash as the last seconds of the voice recordings "were dramatic". He did not elaborate.

One of the three black boxes on the Soviet-built Tu-154 Polish government jet has been returned to Poland while the other two are being examined in Moscow, Polish prosecutors' spokesman Jerzy Artymiak said.

Mr Artymiak said investigators had hoped to disclose the contents of the black boxes officially on Thursday but would wait until after the weekend's funerals.

A state funeral for those killed along with the presidential couple is due to be held on Saturday.

Found an article...

OTTAWA - Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the other three federal party leaders will fly together to Poland for the state funeral of President Lech Kaczynski and his wife.

Harper invited Liberal Michael Ignatieff, New Democrat Jack Layton and Gilles Duceppe to accompany him to the Sunday funeral, and all accepted, said a release from the Prime Minister's Office.

Kaczynski and a cross-section of Poland's senior political and military figures were killed last Saturday in a plane crash.

The president was flying to services marking the 70th anniversary of the Katyn Massacre.

The tragedy was deepened because he had invited so many senior figures to accompany him, including the president of the national bank, the deputy foreign affairs minister, a senior military officer, a deputy parliamentary speaker and several lawmakers.

U.S. President Barack Obama and dozens of other world leaders are to attend the Kaczynski funeral.

Where did people state that they want him to admit that there's "something wrong with him"? For example, where did I state that? Please point out to me directly in this thread where I said such a thing, otherwise you yourself are making unjust accusations against people.

Let's make an analogy, would you expect current young Germans to acknowledge and apologize for the crimes that were committed by previous generations of Germans during the Nazi Third Reich? Would you expect Croatians to acknowledge (not apologize for, just acknowledge - and notice I make a distinction here from the previous example), the crimes and murders of the Ustashi against Serbs during WWII in the Balkans? Answer honestly. If you feel that you do not need the Croatian public (or governmental or academic bodies - whatever it is that you would consider as representative of the Croatian side in this issue) to acknowledge that the Ustashi committed crimes against humanity against the Serbian population during WWII, than you have a right to criticize and chastise other people for demanding the same for their own countries/nationalities. If you feel that Croatians should acknowledge the fact that some of their countrymen committed crimes against Serbs during WWII, then you have to necessarily accept that other nationalities will expect to also have their woes acknowledged in the same manner. Otherwise, you are a hypocrite, pure and simple (sorry to call you this, and you may call me any obscenity you want in return- FEEL WELCOME TO DO SO IF IT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER, REALLY! , but that will not detract me from my position, nor from stating it. Just because someone may want to shout obscenities at me or hate me or wish me evil because they are incapable of trying to rationally and emphatically attempt to see my viewpoint, that cannot detract me from believing what I believe is right nor prevent me from stating it publicly where I feel the need for it is to be stated - at least for so long as we still live in a country where it is not an imminent danger to one's life, safety and security or the safety and security of one's family to still state one's opinions publicly). And if you think that using bullying tactics in an internet discussion forum will scare people off and effectively silence them, then I believe you are wrong. And I don't care if you hate me or wish me to die or whatever else for saying so.

I did not have a problem to acknowledge the wrongdoings that were done to ethnic Germans and Hungarians post-WWII in my country, even though (based on the principles of collective guilt) one could argue that it was a reaction to what these two groups did during WWII to Czechs and Slovaks first, that they were justified measures taken to ensure that such things would not repeat again in the future. I wonder why some other posters here have a problem to even acknowledge that their countries of origin did commit grievances to other countries... Everyone expects Germany to apologize even to this day for the atrocities that they committed during WWII, but it seems the same doesn't hold for other countries - I guess Germans are the only ones expected to "own up to their game". (???)

hi kamka :)

first of all, all of your posts in this thread are right on spot and i wish i could agree with all of it. actually i do agree with around 95% of it, i just wont stand on the sidelines while people are "glorifying" Russian "attrocities" while completely ignoring nazi side of it. you are one of a few people on the opposite side in this argument that actually took time to explain where she stands and not point fingers directly at just one side.

all that being said i really do wanna get into it with you but at the moment i am completely incapable of doing so. my best friend is getting married soon so we are kinda catching up to those future years of ball and chain lol. as soon as this weekend is over i will get into it i promise.

second, wish you to die?? AWWWWWWW, how can you even say that? what you saw as internet bullying i see as a righteous anger. i am not trying to silence anybody, im trying just the opposite. but, as in every other discussion, there's gotta be a breaking point. i've reached mine and i snapped and for that i appologize. even though that post had nothing whatesoever to do with you (i swear :)) i will apoloize once again, but to you only because, like i said, i agree with you almost completely and youre way too nice to hate!!

you cannot have a debate if you only wanna hear your side of it, right?

im gonna go celebrate some more, but i will get back to this come monday. or tuesday LOL
