I just looked into it, and the buses are not free. Tickets can be bought at the bus pick-up location on East 124th St though for those who are going over that way. |
Right, if you take the bus TO the festival.
after the festival, there's a mass crowd that forms a line to get on the MTA buses, and they don't swipe your metro card or anything. so you walk on and get dropped off at the 125th st stop for free (if you walked across the bridge to get to the festival). |

| I think the source of confusion here is that Made are running their own buses which are the 124th st ones. MTA is the 'Special Events' bus (called the X something something) that stops like a block away. I have no idea what the point in both buses is, except to charge more for the Made ones? |

theres a interview with made event on the website
this q&a sticks out the most for me
"Electric Zoo is returning to Randall's Island for its 3rd year. It's been a great success so far with attendance increasing steadily every year. What are some of the most significant changes this year?
The first thing people will notice this year is that the production has increased exponentially. Everything from the enlarged site, to the much bigger tents and main stage, light shows and sets are a giant leap forward from last year. With Integral Sound (which has always been our calling card), we are doing things that have never been attempted before in a festival setting. Prepare to be blown away! VIP has been significantly upgraded as well and there is a new second VIP area located in the grove with more of a chill out vibe. As always the food and drink choices are very important to us and we have really stepped it up this year."
really happy to see they are steping things up. Between bigger tent's and the solving of the dust problem i feel this will be a better experience as long as mother nature dont pms on us |

| Wow sounds like the production and tents are gonna be serious. Should be interesting to see what this Garden of EZ is too. |

If water taxi tickets sell out I'll probably do the WARDS ISLAND PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE.
It says FRI / SAT / SUN its open all times. |
The footbridge will close at dusk. It is accessible from E. 103rd St. in Manhattan onto Randall's Island Park during summer daylight hours (6am - 9pm). It takes about 20-25 minutes to walk from the Manhattan side of the footbridge to the festival entrance. Although you may want to save the energy for your 36 hours of dancing! |

The point of having both the MTA buses and the Electric Zoo Shuttle Buses is to alleviate congestion and crowding. We want to to ensure everybody gets home safely from the festival in a timely manner.
Hopping on a bus you didn't pay for is part of the problem. Shame on you tubularbills :whip: |

Some additional info for everybody:
PLEASE NOTE THE MTA X80 BUSES ARE NOT FREE. These are New York City transit buses and a $5.50 round-trip fare is collected going to Randall's Island. If you transfer from the subway or bus with your Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard, only $3.25 is deducted. Please remember fare evasion is a crime. Not cool folks.
You need to have a Pay-Per-Ride card. The 7-Day Express Bus Plus is the only Unlimited Ride MetroCard accepted on the X80. Local Bus Weekly or Monthly passes not accepted. For more information, visit www.mta.info.
We do recommend the Electric Zoo Shuttle Buses. These are new for this year and initiated in order to alleviate crowding and reduce wait times to get off the island. Tickets will be available for purchase at bus pick-up location on East 124th St (bet Madison & Park Avenue). Check here for any updates: http://www.madeevent.com/ElectricZoo/gettingthere.php
EZ Shuttle Bus tickets will also be available for $5 (one-way) at the Info Booth inside the festival.
There will be signs posted at all the EXITS directing you to the proper mode of transportation. |
