| I don't have a good plan to get there from the Astoria side other than a cab and then walking the 40 minutes back. Maybe a bicycle. |

I could list them all but you'd probably offer a canned response of "artist ____ sucks". And these tours/concerts aren't electronic.
Here's one though: Foo Fighters and Rise Against at the Meadowlands in September. There's not one artist in this EZ lineup that can play a live show like the Foo Fighters. |

No . punk/rock/hardcore shows are all about raw energy and taking frustration out |

dave grohl only has the best resume in the history of rock n roll. drummer for this little band called nirvana. leadman for the foo. oh and another small project named queens of the stone age. no big deal.
anyway, for the most part, you can't compare going to see a DJ to going to see a rock concert. DJs like tiesto, armin, SHM are narrowing that gap and making their dj sets more like performances/concerts.. but for the most part it's apples to oranges. |

There's just too many better tours/concerts that are coming up then to waste my money on this. |

So according to this, the X80 is $5.50 ROUNDTRIP on a pay-per-ride Metro card, so its only going to be $16.50 for the 3 days?
MTA Special Event Express Buses
Take the 4/5/6 or Metro-North Railroad to 125th St, then take the X80 express Bus on Lexington Ave between 126 and 125 Sts, which runs nonstop to Randall's Island. A $5.50 round-trip fare is collected going to Randall's Island. If you transfer from the subway or bus with your Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard, only $3.25 is deducted. |
the last two years i didn't even pay to get on the X80 bus that took me across the RFK bridge to the 6 subway stop. took the 6 then down to my hotel.
so yeah; as long as these buses are still available, i don't know why you'd pay to get another option? so you wait in line for like 20 minutes....are you really going to stay until the end of the fest each night anyway? leave a few minutes early and beat the lines?
i guess maybe the other modes are great for those who don't live in the city? i don't know, i'm staying in manhattan and the X80 to the 6 sub sounds like the best option to me.
edit
also, getting there, i've always just walked across either the footbridge @103rd st, or the RFK bridge.
double edit
the ferry could be cool if music was played on it (ala DEMF boat ride). otherwise, meh. |

| I think thats why it is roundtrip :) You pay the full $5.50 to GO from Manhattan to the park, but on the way back at night, they never had us pay. You dont split the costs, you just pay the $5.50 upfront. |

as someone who was born and raised on the foos and similar alternative rock, i have to wholeheartedly disagree.
the foos are an average at best live show...if you want to see a true energetic live show by a rock band, think dillinger escape plan :disbelief :toothless |

Well...I've pretty much decided that I'm coming again this year! I had way too much fun last year to skip out on it. The lineups are nice, flight prices are cheap, and I LOVE NYC!
