Technically they infarct many rules of business and break contracts and agreements with customers all the time. The problem is none of those problems are ever concretely presentable. IF anything were to happen i'm guessing the main stance would be internet prices and bandwidth limitations, comparatively with the rest of the world. We need a tech savvy lawer who gets how important this is :D

There was a case once against bell/fido/rogers when they kept charging everyone that extra 6.95 fee on cellphones that didn't actually get used for anything, I forget how that one turned out, might have been a favorable outcome.

I for one agree there should be no unlimited internet access....people who use more should pay for it...and pay through the roof. I would suggest at least a 300-400% increase in cost.

Obv YOU would

Also internet costs close to nothing to actually transmit around, and that's not the only problem as you have assumed, its the next step when the actual content is going to be fiddled with depending on how much you pay...

Radio

TV

Internet

They all started for the good of the people...they all end bad for the people when they are owned by a couple guys. But you dont care, right... I know.

but who is the person to decide what is low and what is high. and what those incremental costs would be.

internet should not be as expensive as it is now. (same thing goes for cell phone service)

cuz who decided that 25 Gigs is normal vs 200 Gigs being normal.

I think that they should only charge more for ppl who use up so much bandwidth for torrents..

Let's face it kids...

You're all bitching cause you won't be able to steal your music and movies for free...

I still don't know how this effects me seeing as I already have a cap on my service other than if I go over it which I never do...

I'm still waiting for that explanation...

1) you (or anybody in your house) is at a competitive disadvantage to other people around the world. By paying more, you have fewer resources to budget towards other things.
2) you are paying a price which does not reflect to true cost of service. (this should be enough to make you mad)
3) by artificially increasing the cost of internet service, your incentive to shop around for better, and more cost effective services decreases.(netflix, skype..etc)
4) because the price of current services is going up, your ability to acquire faster/better choices will be hindered.

Canada is pouring money to try and become a media hub for the world. If our media companies are just turning around and wasting that investment into overpriced infrastructure, any efforts to elevate us, is being wasted.

Thanks for the reply but it still doesn't explain how or why MY service will cost me more.

I'll elaborate my questions to your reply when I get home Orko...

Long posts are a pain on a 4" screen...

You don't use that much bandwidth, its not the rest of us that use too much... that's another way of looking at it.

Its all relative, unlike the costs, which again is the primary reason you should be mad.

Also your argument against torrents... weak.

What if I buy a load of digital content? What if I buy loads of sample CDs/music/movies/games

I BUY THEM is the key word, so why then do I have to pay extra to some totally unrelated party even tho the costs incurred are not even close to the price. I would pay extra if the prices were fair, in case it was that that your after, but the prices aren't fair.

Good points but again, my reply will have to wait till I get home...

Simple, it wont cost you more than you have already agreed to. It is already costing you more than you are supposed to pay.

The recent decisions and appeals, were to fight what you are already paying unfairly for. So the rejection of appeals, means you will continue to pay what you are paying, instead of saving money.
