edit: oh ya, I just watched CTV's bit on this issue. What a piece of uninformative bull. I love how the talking puppet at the end summarized it like this (paraphrasing): "Make sure to check your bill for internet caps, and if you're paying too much: watch less videos online"

great ing suggestion. with news networks like this, its no wonder this country is going down the ter.

Isn't CTV part of BCE now?

That attitude right there is what is wrong.....it is not a right or even a necessity of life. More people in the world don't have internet then do.

If you truly want to make it fair for everyone across the board then just have a universal set charge per gig and be done with it.

Mine is $50... and that's unlimited calls anywhere in Canada and US as well as no roaming charges in Canada and unlimited text.

What?

Missed where your point was, rights here in Canda or other countries?
Whats having a universal fee have anything to do with us being overcharged here?

Also I never said it was a necessity for life, nor did I compare it with anything that was necessary in such a way. I said it was important, more than what VDub compared it to.

Re-evaluature your argument please.

I, for one, am not saying that you should not have to pay for access to this service; the issue is how much people have to pay. In more competitive foreign telecommunication sectors, the price is a lot less. Generally, economics dictates that in well-functioning markets prices should be close to suppliers' marginal cost of delivery, P = MC. These prices are nowhere this.

Wanna sell it? lol

The big companies actually disallowed the transfer of phone services a few years ago when they began their stranglehold. I remember seeing a load of those Fido plans on Ebay then

If you have a set fee per gig then only other costs are going to be fees from the provider for administration, etc. Everyone in the world will pay the same price to download that all important Two Girls One Cup video.

We're paying around $4.58 per gallon right now so all of these places for example...

Spain Madrid $4.55
Japan Tokyo $4.24
Czech Republic $4.19
Romania Bucharest $4.09
Andorra $4.08
Estonia Tallinn $3.62
Bulgaria $3.52
Brazil Brasilia $3.12
Cuba Havana $3.03
Taiwan Taipei $2.84
Lebanon Beirut $2.63
South Africa $2.62
Nicaragua $2.61
Panama Panama City $2.19
Russia Moscow $2.10
Puerto Rico $1.74
Saudi Arabia $0.91
Kuwait Kuwait City $0.78
Egypt Cairo $0.65
Nigeria Lagos $0.38

One of the reason why it cost so much for gas in Canada, seeing we don't have the refineries that can manage the output. So it flows all the way to Texas gets refined and comes back up to Canada. Plus Venezuela, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia all the gas is like government owned or something. If we could refine everything here in Canada, we probably be paying half of what we pay now.

61 Mbps lucky. I just wish I lived in that town that Google giving 1 Gbps internet access to :eyespop:

And don't forget how we pay a tax on a tax...
