The way things have been going on my end are a bitch sketchy. I knew I threw out the idea of doing that Tahoe Trip, but I just got news I might be offered an opportunity to ride the swiss/french alps during a trip to Germany and Amsterdam...decisions decisions...
Also my female friend is going out to her apartment in breckenridge and is insisting that I spend a week with her out there in Jan as well, I might even meet up with ya taso =) |

Wow umm, I've only known you for one boarding season, do you get crazier and crazier every season, cause it seems like it so far? You're gonna pull out all your hair in 2009 waiting for the season. Then in 2011 we're gonna find out you covered your entire apartment in silver glitter and snow spray, turned the AC up full blast, strapped in, and snowboarded from your bed to the couch. |

I've applied to a few jobs with snowboard companies (burton included) and have already started at looking at places to live out west, particularly in Breckenridge, Utah, and Vancouver.

good luck with that cat strap...horrible to say the least but I do like the alternating color scheme, just not a fan of burton products...think burton as a company is growing to big and its no longer "exclusive" to the rider, it's more of a commercial company at the moment even though I'd be willing to work for them lol

i was using the capstrap last year with the customs. it took a while to get used to but it fit pretty well once i got the hang of it. |

Interesting thought...
I've never been a huge fan either but their R & D department / budget is large than a lot of smaller companies gross revenue.. They are still the largest but their market share is slipping every year. |

I still prefer over the top
just an FYI, the new over the top straps can wrap the toe just like the catstrap but the catstrap can't strap over the toe =P

their market share is slipping with every new product they hit the market with, every new clothing line, every new acquisition they make (r.e.d, analog, anon, etc) why? because their core product exist in a market where rider response determines it's mass appeal. Technically sound equipment is where these sports are leading to, not the newest and hotest t-shirt design or colorway binding, they've been lacking in most areas other than the boards they've been producing. And even their boards aren't dominating the Top 10 wood or aluminum core awards.
Companies like Rome, Never Summer, Lib Tech, Academy all get great rider response and your fan base will buy items which they see endorsed by riders from a technical aspect. Not the idolized Olympic winner motto, that's old and been done.
Part of the market % is slipping because all of these really good no-name riders are creating their own companies devoted to the technical aspect of the sport. This is a classic battle of branding verses technology. Partly I believe Burton has gone over the top in exposing the mass appeal of snowboarding. |

| On top of that, they're making enemies w/ all of the dealers cause of their business practices... purchase requirements etc... Years ago, you HAD to carry burton in your shop.. it's moving away from that. |

Agreed...a friend of mine who is a buyer said he waited on line for his retail application with Burton, took nearly 4 hours...is it that sought after? |

In regards to Burton, I still think they have the best outfits I've seen on sale and a great product image still. Their bindings suck except the extreme top of the line, however, IMO. Just feel how stiff they are. I would consider a board from them, but for boots, I'm sold on Salomon forever. Burton socks and underlayers are great but ridiculously expensive. I don't really care about the business side of it all I guess, unless they're doing something awful. You business people, keep talking :p
