how is that mountain? does it have a website? i searched but to no avail, only those crappy "pocono tourist guide" type of information.
take 80west past the watergap, how much further once i get into PA? |

Alpine is my least favorite of the pocono resorts... It's pretty small.. |

small in comparison to price and liftline wait sometimes balances out because at camelback forget it...come 10am-ish lines are insane! |

Well I only skiied once there in my life
Two years ago, planned a pocono trip for relaxtion but was broed so we found a place called "Alpine Mountain" and just snow tubbed
Last year Gf and I planned it where we go skiing at Alpine Moutain this time. We did the learn to ski lesson PKG for around $75 each included all rental for the day and 1 hr lesson. learned quickly so I was hitting this mini ski lift area and then there is a huge 3-5 min ski lift I did last and went all the way down
:eyespop: !!The only reason I am going back was because of that last trip down the moutain.
I can't compare because I am not a full time ski person like others. All I can say is the there are a few choices of slope types, few blue,few green, and black diamonds. I had a pamphalet lying around if I find it I can scan it and post. Its been so long since I had it from last winter though:whip: |

Thats great man! You should keep at it or maybe even pick up and try a snowboard. Not taking anything away from skiing, just give boarding a whirl.
From what I understand we have some prominent skiiers here ahemArnoldahemRyan(ghb), I'm sure they can offer up some tips here.
Just make sure you are on that mountain tearing it up. |

I ski'd for about 10 years before i tried snowboarding...
The first time i tried it was an adventure (as i'm sure others will agree)... lol
The first time I connected a turn though.... wow... i knew it was for me... I haven't ski'd since but I wouldn't mind trying it again sometime. Ski equipment has come a long way over the past 14 years! |

hehe you and I have about the same life story ;)
I would love to ski the Alps.... but yes my ski equipment is quite outdated now... |

I wonder if they have snowboarding lessons. Maybe the year after. :p
When your going down a mountain at 20-30 mph from my POV it does feel like the best rush since being on a fun roller coaster but more freedom to move. Make sure you know how to stop at the bottom, thats why I took lessons :eyes: |

| Hey guys. Im gonna try to coordinate a TA Ski-Trip when the time comes. I was thinking at Butternut because they have nice trails and a real nice terrain park(set up like the x-games for Boarder-X). You have whoops right out of the gate which are a bitch to handle if youve never done them before, then a 15 ft. table top, grind rails, and it keeps goin. |

its not so much about stopping its about carving (S turns) which help you maintain your speed. =)

I'd be down for a TA Ski trip, most of us here in NY already plan trips together if not individually with each own groups of friends. Keep us posted as this thread will probably go on for the duration of the winter season. Includes pics, movies, meetups, and helpful links throughout the pages.
Also page 1 is full of local metro area resort information along with purchasing options. =) |
