for some reason i cant ride VT anymore, it's TOO COLD...even when you're layered up with the proper gear, its cold. i had a down jacket with 2 base layer pants and my grenade pants and my ass still got cold on the lift.
vt is also pretty fast, it's different here on the east, it's hard and fast, out in the west its soft, you can still rip through it just that you have some sort of control...when i was up in vt, you rip down it and you get that noise that makes you cringe... |
if you can ride it here you can ride it anywhere. Just make sure you keep those edges sharp for the icy-ness.
It's tough here in the east because you need sharp edges for the hard runs, but soft beveled edges to hit rails and boxes. I've had some tough experiences catching edges on boxes or rails and face planting on a cold hard rail. |

I've never been skiing or snowboarding (except with Skifree PC game back in the day).
Anyways, I might go this year. Where's a good place for a beginner? What do I need, and where can I buy it? |

It's too bad Cali is having a horrible year. I hope it gets better for you guys soon. I wanna go out to mammoth in may, but at this rate, who knows if that'll happen. |

i will be surprised if we make it to may this year. there just isn't enough of a base. mammoth had to close last week. hopefully they got snow in this current storms but i don't know if they even went that far south. the last 2 months we had this arctic weather pattern which brought no moisture at all.
i guess you can't have epic snow every year. :( |

woooooooooooooooooow!!!!!!! No , they actually closed last week!!! I'm actually depressed to hear that. I can't believe that, i went to mammoth last year on june 2 - 5 and there was something like a 10 - 15 ft base at stump alley express!!!!!!!!!!
Don't give up hope, mammoth got almost 300 inches in march and april last year. It only takes one big storm to turn it all around, and mammoth gets some epic storms. I remember hearing about a 50 inch storm last year. |

Haven't heard much about it. apparently its a switzerland co. so you're not going to hear much about it in the US.
My question is why would you want to mess with a foreign snowboard when the US companies have been at the forefront of snowboard innovation. You're probably better off sticking with an established US company, e.g. ride, burton, forum, etc... |
