Take it from someone born and raised in Maine - if you're willing to drive the 6.5 hours to SR, drive one more to Sugarloaf...
Much larger single mountain (2800 vertical feet v.s. 1900 max on any indiviual SR peak) with more diverse terrain than SR... Plus, the added distance from any major urban center decreases the crowds even more. It's not unusual to ski onto the lift (as in no lines) on a weekend. Also, if you manage to be one of the luck up there on an epic powder day, nothing can beat the lift-accessed above tree-line snowfields :D
All the same, I'm glad you had a great time in my ol' home state:toocool: |
true... but i'm glad sunday river was where it was. significantly far enough away from NY was what i wanted :) if i had a longer break, would definitely check out sugarloaf |

oh its workin out, just i think im getting a new board as a gift so i might as well try to salvage what i got...
-edit-
in reality its a bit heavy for me, fun board nice and wide too, who knows i might just keep it, but i think the board im getting is smaller - 153 but the waist kills me since i have a large boot - waist is 24.6 and my boot is an 11 with a L Binding so drag is quite possible...hope i dont need those gay risers! |

| OMG I have never laughed so hard in my life..... I remember Brian and I were in the car while Jeff went in to get the plunger and we were thinking "What else can we get him to use" then brilliantly I suggest he uses a coat hanger to snake it, and later on a plastic cup. Im still wondering who suggested the listerine |

finally went snowboarding last month for a couple days for the first time.
i was basically going to hafta teach myself so the first day was painful up until the end when i finally learned to stop and slow down completely. but the second day kicked ass and i only fell a couple of times while tryin to teach myself better board control and carving. went down a couple intermediate courses with a few friends who ski so i was pretty proud of myself. overall i had such a good time and i was so happy that i finally got to do something ive been wanting to try for years now.
snowboarding is now definitely something i wanna continue doing,
so i wanna look into getting my own equipment. anyone have any suggestions? |
