some of my pictures from sunday river in maine. this place has to be my favorite on the east coast right now. six different mountains, a variety of terrain no matter what the difficulty level, and mother nature has been dumping snow on the mountain since late saturday night. i only wish i was there right now. the mountain is about 6.5 hours away from new york. definitely not as crowded as killington. trails were WIDE open, so i never felt like i was about to be run over by someone from behind. i would definitely go again.

every ing calendar day that goes by that im not on the mountain i just get this sad feeling that im gonna miss the season with some bull runs, yea i know i got a big trip in tahoe coming in march but that isn't enough for me, i need more i need to be on my GAME when im in tahoe meaning i've been riding (dirty) for a while and ready to rip the up at tahoe. i don't feel like im at that point this season due to the lack of snow. someone please lets ing go ride some pow and butter some edges!

Take it from someone born and raised in Maine - if you're willing to drive the 6.5 hours to SR, drive one more to Sugarloaf...
Much larger single mountain (2800 vertical feet v.s. 1900 max on any indiviual SR peak) with more diverse terrain than SR... Plus, the added distance from any major urban center decreases the crowds even more. It's not unusual to ski onto the lift (as in no lines) on a weekend. Also, if you manage to be one of the luck up there on an epic powder day, nothing can beat the lift-accessed above tree-line snowfields :D
