Make sure you tune in Jan 15th @ G4 TV Air 10PM
The Block

Essentially it's this show about a hotel in lake tahoe that caters to snowboarders, video games, and partying. Apparently they are filming episodes there of snowboarders and mountain life partying and basically putting it out there for the world to see. Something like this is monumental in taking it to the next step. I think this is a great insight (although possibly staged) to the lives of snowboarders where Jeep Action Adventure Sports and Mtn. Dew only show the actual extreme sport. Anyways, I think when I'm in tahoe I'll stop by there to check it out and talk to the staff. Although it looks like a fun hang out place, I don't think I'd want to stay there. Not knocking the place since I've never been there but if I'm out there for an extended period of time (7+ days) I want to have all the amenities and entertainment close by. Anyways hope you guys check this out, the preview(s) of this has had me waiting for it to debut.

went to mountain creek today, only because i have a season pass and need to use it at least once, it SUCKED. They say they have 6 trails open, BS, its only one trail: Upper BS, Mid Upper BS, Mid BS, Mid Lower BS, Lower BS, loading zone. The park had one rail and 70 boarders waiting to hit it. I left early because i didn't want to mess up my new board by hitting a rock.
Damn, can't wait till january 26, Utah Baby. |

Just returned from an 11 day trip Breckenridge. , such a good resort. Not sure if any of you guys have been, but shortly after the second big dump on Denver I headed up to the new Imperial Express super chair. It tops out at 12840ft and the powder was out of this world - I've never experienced anything like it.
Spent a day in Vail, but it was a bit bare for my liking. I think this was because it was low down compared to some of the other resorts in Summit County.
On the last day I went to Keystone at 4pm for a bit of night riding. I have never experienced anything like it. Riding while the sun set behind the rockies was beautiful. I found it easier to ride in floodlit conditions because the dark brought out the terrain much better.
Anyway, if you haven't been to that part of the world I highly recommend it. I shall certainly be making the trip again at some point. |

Alright so now that I've answered a ton of emails and have about a good solid hour to reflect while it's still fresh in my memory...here goes
Friday
Our flight left at 6:30AM to connect in Chicago (Midway). So Thursday night we all went to my friend Ryan's house since he was the closest to LGA and had a tuning session. All boards tuned and packed by midnight where I caught the last bits of Afro Samurai and knocked the out at 1AM. We got picked up at 4:30AM for our flight at 6. So finally on the plane we all ass out only to wake up in Chicago 2hours later. We connected to Southwest Air which does this weird thing of not assigning seats and basically assigning Seating Categories (A,B,C) and you have to literally lineup to get your seats. Of course, we was put in Cat. C aka the back of the bus! After a 4hour flight and a run of Jackass 2 we land in PDX, Portland.
We get our bags and get picked up by Alisa and John (bliss n frost), of course they are standing outside of the baggage claim in a Nissan Xterra bumping "RIDING DIRTY". Naturally, 2 white folks in a SUV blasting dirty south hiphop in Portland kinda made me and my group of friends look like the Chinese Beasts from the East! So we strapped our boards on the rack and made some moves back to John's mothers place for them to get their stuff.
First thing first, John has some incredible dogs! I instantly fell in love with his largest dog Akita, is and named! I just wanted to pack her in my bag and take her home with me! So back to boarding..packed up and headed to Hood River Inn Best Western for the night and then went for some Ski Bowl Night Riding.
Got to Ski Bowl around 8PM figured we could get in a good 3hours or so, by this time it was lightly snowing and completely dark on the mountain. This was probably the BEST powder I've ever been on. It was simply great, got a bunch of practice in since falling in powder DOES NOT HURT. Got alittle altitude sickness but that was flying all day not sleeping much and then jumping to that elevation so quickly.
Leaving Ski Bowl, now this was pure craziness because it was unchartered territory for everyone. Even though on the way up we encountered flying debris coming off the trees just that it was dark going up and even darker going down. So leaving I had to drive through the blizzard of all blizzards. I had ZERO sense of direction, could only see about 10-20ft infront of the car and was using these reflective markers on the sides of the road as road indicators. I nearly myself about 10 times and Alisa was in the back screaming DON'T PICK UP ANY HITCH HIKERS WITH RED EYES! I'm thinking...please someone magically roll a blunt and light it for me!
Needless to say we returned safe to the best western where we fell out. Now most who know me know I snore, I can't hide that, but in midsleep I hear John and Alisa and everyone else in the room cracking jokes about my snoring, it's ok that they thought I was still sleeping and continued the -bashing, even I can LOL at it from time to time.
Saturday
Woke up, had some breakfast and made our way to Mt Hood Meadows! There isn't much for me to speak about Saturday except for the fact that Mt Hood is HUGE! Well not huge like anything I seen in Utah, but big enough for the type of mountain that it is. It seemed like more of a local mountain since there wasn't much there to cater to tourist unlike some of the resorts out west. It's a great mountain if you're a local, something I wish I had in my back yard!
Full day of riding, bunch of terrain park features with table tops, picnic tables, kinked rails, small jibs, big jibs to full sized hits that you see on DVDs. Overall it was a great mountain to ride on. Now my only gripe about hood was that their lift systems were not the best. No gondolas only quads and doubles going up, and they went up quite far and slow to say the least. It seemed as if the upper mountain was closed because it was so windy. I'm talking windy upwards to 50+ mph. At one point it was hard to stand after I strapped in. We polished off the day around 7PM and headed back towards Portland to have dinner at Mom's place.
A great night of sleep this night, was much needed in preparation for Sunday.
Sunday
Great gone worst! Not much happening on Sunday, we drove out to GI Joes, some sporting goods store to look for some gear...I lol @ GI Joes, grabbed what we needed and headed to Hood. We arrived to an almost desolate parking lot, so desolate we was able to park on the 2nd row from the lodge just behind the line of buses. Very windy at the base, very cold this day. We all headed up and geez the wind was even more worse than it was the day before. Almost all of my gear began to freeze, my bindings wouldn't strap in because the locking mechanism was frozen!
We killed it this day, 2 runs and we retreated to the lodge for a pitcher of beer and a pie of pizza. By this time my waterproof pants were not waterproof, my boot straps on my boa system was frozen, and my goggles were iced over. Sat in the lodge to watch the Giants get their asses handed to them. How convenient is our very own MissBliss polishing off the pitcher with the roar of the lodge in the background thumping CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG....what would we do without our lovely MissBliss!
Drove back to Portland to start the packing. Successful day at Mt Hood on Saturday and an awesome night at Ski Bowl Friday night. Sunday I had no problem eating it for only the 2 runs, the mountain simply was not safe to ride on, conditions were horrible.
On the drive back we decided we had enough time to head back to Mom's, change and head into Portland to a nice steakhouse. Also decided to try and find some areas to chill in since John kept telling us that Portland is 'SOHO-LIKE'. So after showering we all rallied up and made our way to Portland. With Nas's new album pumping in the background, we all surfed through the streets of Portland in search of this steakhouse. Our first choice was Ruth's Steakhouse, after one look of the menu and a quick glance at our wallets we decided to move down the street to Portland Steaks and Chophouse. The food was decent and the wine selection wasn't all that great for the prices they had listed. So after we grubbed down on some nice steaks we decided to walk it off in search of the lady action...MissBliss was generous enough to say 'You've got 1HR then I'm out'...THANKS BLISS <3 LOL...So as we walked I thought it'd be a swell idea to approach some ladies and try out the line - 'Hi I'm from New York, Can I get your number' lol like having her number had anything to do with it...really! Luckily enough I had hit an ATM prior to the dinner where I seized the opportunity to unleash the New Yorker in me. At a gas station there was 2 girls asking for directions where I candidly stood near the ATM waiting for my friend Jeff to finish. As they made their exit I stopped them to use the line, but to no avail, sorry I failed New York!
We walked and walked Portland after our meal in search of MaryJane, you know just to spice things up a bit. Manage to stop by and window browse a few closed shops, in particular Upper Playground and Compound/Just Be It! They had some nice kicks there but nothing compared to the selection in NYC. We proceeded to explore Portland as we strolled various 'Aves' in hopes of some NY-like mission...5th Ave nope empty, 6th Ave, nope empty. Not much out there so we retreated to cap the night and finish packing for our 7am flight back.
Returned to Mom's place who had been more than generous with the hospitality. So we began to pack, when my friend Jeff started screaming from the bathroom...Yo Bri, can you ask John for a plunger. LOL I'm thinking uhm NO you go ask him for a plunger LOL. I guess I'll let the videos speak for this end cap to the trip, I'll get these to YouTube so you all can try to relive the moment. There's PLENTY of footage to say the least, PLENTY!
Ah well, that's my story of Mt Hood, I'm sure Bliss and Frost can add their version if they feel up to it!
PICTURES AND VIDEOS UP SOON! |

OH MY GOD Brian I haven't heard you laugh like you did at Jeff EVER.... EVERRRR... and probably never will again!!! LOL @ midnight plunger run... John's stepdad the next day said he'd fix it, then came back and said he couldn't do anything with this "mickey mouse plunger" LOL... so we got a heavy-duty one, huge base, and it was fixed. Will NEVER forget the coat hanger and the little plastic cup scooping.... oh god... videos should be a gem to watch :stongue: :stongue: My highlights: banshees, driving through the blizzard, I'm from NY, what's your number??, hitchhikers (DON'T PICK THEM UP!!!), Government Camp aka Secret White Salmon area (one day I'll have the grass drop-off call authorization), DJ Gigahurts, a little chug chug chug, and of course Colossal Jalopagos Jelapi Jeff and the trick he did on our toilet. INDUSTRIAL PLUNGER!!
All in all an AMAZING trip with you guys, I had SO MUCH fun and we better keep doing this kind of until we can't stand up on a board anymore!!! DERELICTS AND DEGENERATES FOREVER!!!
Today we were up at Timberline, very small mountain, too easy for us and it was icy after the torrential downpour yesterday but still had a lot of fun, some beautiful runs there. The summit of Hood is right in front of you as you ride the lifts, and it was the first sunny, clear day -- too bad you guys didn't get to see the drive we took there, holyy.... beautiful. It's supposed to be freezing and dump snow for the next few days...
I'll post the few pics I have on my camera.
K kids, I'm here till Saturday so I'm still enjoying... stay safe and watch out for the PO.....LEASE!! |
