Nidecker has been around for a long time.
I've heard some good stuff about them years ago but not recently. |

Was at shawnee mtn on saturday..
i know right shawnee wtf lol...anyways probably one of the nicest slope style setups i've seen on the east. 3-4 big kickers, nestled in a fat round pipe rail, another 2 more hits, then a flat-down box, a rainbow rail, then a set of stairs with 3 options, 2 more kinked out rails, then a nice fatty L box. ended up being a really chill day, went with some beginners and was hangin out on the bunnie slope laying out on my board enjoying the blue skies, warm sun, and beginners-entertainment...needless to say we sat there for about 45mins chilling out. the 17 beers the night before hurt me though, i rode with a headache for atleast 4hrs
2-weeks - Tahoe for 9 days... |

check out mount snow. It has a trail called el diablo that runs from the top to the bottom with 4 step downs in the 15 - 25ft range, a 35 - 45 ft step down, a 30 ft tabletop, a big hip, and tons of boxes and rails of all assortments (flat-downs, up-flat-downs, rainbows, handrails, etc...) All of this flows from the top of the hill all the way to the bottom. I went there sunday. Im sore as right now; I seemed like i couldn't land anything i threw down, it was one of those days.
Stratton still has the best parks, just not in a slopestyle setup like snow. Although the suntanner park is now up, so my opinion could possibly change once i get over to stratton. |

I haven't hit snow yet, but i know what you are talking about at stratton. It's a great mountain honestly, stratton, and the suntanner park is pretty nice, just that after riding the shawnee slopestyle course i've been sold...plus it's a $24 lift for night and it's well lit. $45 for an all day till 10pm ticket which isn't all that bad either...anyways i didn't go out and kill it this weekend...i got tahoe in my sights and i dont want to do anything retarded before my trip.
this week looks kinda promising for nyc, we might get some coverage to work central park or riverside park, just need to pack some shovels and hope that the rain freezes a bit to pack down some of the dusting...thats all you really need lol...a gallon of water, small bag of salt, and walla build you own hit and box somewhere along riverside drive... |

I know what you're saying about shawnee. I went there at the end of last season and was impressed (at least for the poconos). It is one of the few resorts that actually does jumps. MC doesn't give a about jumps, but they have the best rail parks south of VT. The only problem with shawnee is the lifts were made in the 19th century. It takes like ten minutes to go up 500 vertical feet.
I kind of have the same feelings about not killing it now; im going to whistler in three weeks. However, its in my nature to get crazy on a snowboard. I did some stupid tweaked 5 off the 30-40 ft step down and busted my ass hard core. I only managed to spin between a 3 and 5 and landed either on my chest or arm, i hit the ground so hard i don't remember. I got up with chest and arm pains and wasn't sure if i broke my arm or ribs, or tore any ligs. It would have sucked if i broke something and ed my trip to whistler.
4real??? How big of a hit are you talking about?? There usually isn't enough snow 4 me to consider building a hit. I would assume a snowfall of around 1ft is needed to build a decent kicker. |

i will be surprised if we make it to may this year. there just isn't enough of a base. mammoth had to close last week. hopefully they got snow in this current storms but i don't know if they even went that far south. the last 2 months we had this arctic weather pattern which brought no moisture at all.
i guess you can't have epic snow every year. :( |
mammoth >25 inches this weekend. HOpefully its a sign of an improving year. Another storm like this and they're back on track. |

tall enough to make a ledge on some stairs, picnic table, and anything else we can find that's hit-able. I know in the 80s on riverside there is some 10step rails with grass on the side and some of the playground parks that have stuff worth it to go and scout out.
upwards in the 100s there is a skate park thats always deaded on, i saw a flat box there just adjacent a 6ft quarter for a drop in even though its not downhill enough but close enough to get up on.
sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do when there isn't alot of snow or pre-built parks like they have outwest. one can only wish but you need to make do with what you got... |
