| Everyone thats against the mosque @ ground zero is completely missing the point. A mosque over there is the best defence against another terrorist attack. Unlike christians who love going on shooting rampages in churches, muslims don't really like to blow up their places of worship. So, the way to stop terrorism is, build a mosque on every rooftop, and no muslim will ever blow up a building up again. That still leaves an awful lot of crazy christians that can do damage, though they prefer guns not bombs. |

| i find it amazing that they can put a man on the moon, but can't invent a black woman that does not have a hideous looking purple vagina. Seriously...much more disturbing than a mosque near ground zero...it looks like a decaying barney with a bad haircut and halitosis. |

i always thought that america was founded on the principals of freedom, freedom f religion included....so...if all men are created equal like in that really old piece of paper that your buddies on the right love to use for things like not even attempting gun control...a muslim should be allowed to build his mosque wherever he wants no? |
No... you can't build a church or a synagogue anywhere you want to here either. There are such things as zoning laws restricting that for the same reasons you can't build a liquor store near a school or a strip club "where they offend local sensibilities". You can't even build a house if it doesn't conform to certain codes within the community.
The argument isn't against religious freedom or building a mosque, it's about specifically building one in that location. There are already 30 mosques in NY... but we'd be intolerant if we didn't want the newest and biggest one 600 feet from where 3000 people were killed in the name of Islam? |

| No matter what happens, it would be best if they just didn't build it there at this point. heads will Kristallnacht the out of it, I'm sure, then we have to have a thread on racial violence in America, etc. |

I thought you were trying to make the argument that religious freedom in America means muslims should be able to build a mosque "anywhere they like." I was explaining that no religious structure can be build anywhere people like... generally speaking. I didn't catch the angle you were explaining from.
Yes I'm not saying the legal should be made illegal. I'm also saying its bull that those who oppose it are nothing more than intolerant bigots with no good reason, considering the Imam in charge is on the record saying ed up things, the funding is shady at best, and especially considering what happened there perpetrated by who. |

| Something tells me that the actual men who hijacked those planes have absolutely nothing to do with this. |
