Islam had just as much to do with 11/9 as christianity had to do with the 1996 olympic park bombing or the oklahoma city bombings, yet you dont see the outrage that due to that the construction of churches should be forbidden.
And FFS, its not AT ground zero...its 2 blocks away...besides, even i it was. About damn time that something started to build there. |
Yeah the spot is 2 blocks away- what's your point? The landing gear from one of the planes went right through the roof of that building. Timothy McVeigh was anti-government... his bombing wasn't a result of christianity. And Christianity doesn't advocate like jihad and fitna and Sharia Law which are all part of Islam's tenants. This is so ing strange- I have never seen the Left so desperately defend the rights of ANY religion in this country. I've never seen them stand up for Catholics or Mormons, never seen them stand up for Judiasm, and all we ever hear about Christianity is how they're horrible too and full of abortion doctor killers, while the ACLU tries to remove nativity scenes and crosses from peoples' yards and buildings. One must ask, why such vigorous defense of Islam now? Is it because they're "oppressed victims by the unjust, immoral Westerners" in this country? Grievance politics are so ing worn out.

How many times to I have to bring this up? St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was destroyed on 9/11, right across the street from the WTC. They have been trying like hell to re-build for 9 years, and have been given every excuse in the book as to why they can't. The runaround stopped last week and they were officially denied their "right" to "practice religion anywhere they please" when the city shut down their efforts. And... I haven't seen the shootings you predict happening over that. |

One more time:

This time, consider the question part in blue, along with the rest of the picture.
Take your time, Mr. Ashley.
Consider it carefully.
It really is a shame you didn't GET THE MESSAGE, the first time. |

You must realize that I am a person who tends to be frank with people. I feel this avoids issues caused by miscommunicated tact and false insight by misinterpretation due to cultural warping of simple language structures known as common speech.
If you are unable to communicate in English, and be clear and non cyptic then communicating with you may be issued. Sometimes approaches that overtly offend or insult a person directly, or their day to day relations and activities are uncalled for.
Having said this Eddie, I am more than capable of communicating with clarity, it is up to you to understand. I wish no ill, I'm actually a nice person offering constructive information. Sometimes things are best left unsaid unless they can create a net benefit.
I did view my comments in this thread as constructive, it is up to you to also do the same if we are to move forward.
If you'd like to play a game of TripleA found here

With me then I would be more than willing to play that game. Unfortuantely in a more vauge and tactful meaning I am not able to comment as you make no sense.
Best Wishes,

I can only construe your failure to comply as evidence the message has not been received. I figure, sooner or later, it will sink in and it will dawn on you, what you're supposed to do and how you should comport yourself. It's a shame you took a fairly simple disagreement over how the thread was going and turned it into something nefarious. Unfortunately, I am done with communicating with you in the manner I would extend to someone who I respect. That respect is earned and you simply haven't. Maybe that will change, but first, you need to get the message.
I am not interested in playing games. |

That is so offensive and completely counter-productive to a legitimate debate, but I don't care. It's funny as -all. I'm showing this to my girlfriend.

Here's the not so funny side of it:
| quote: | New York rider asks if cabbie is Muslim, stabs him
WASHINGTON: It's a slash that has cut deep into New York City's storied reputation as the world's greatest ethnic and cultural melting pot.
A crazed, and possibly drunk, 21-year old wingnut pulled a knife on a New York City cabbie and slashed him multiple times during evening rush hour on Wednesday after inquiring if he was a Muslim.
The incident, coming amid a fervid debate over a proposed mosque close to the site of the 9/11 tragedy, sparked off an tortured debate about possible growing Islamophobia in the United States, even as it stunned the city known as Big Apple, almost 40% of whose residents are foreign-born and hail from nearly every corner of the world.

The point is that two blocks away from the towers is a very...generous description of ground zero. Usually the term is only used to describe that hole in the ground.
Sure, McVeigh was crazy and anti government...but he was a christian as well...not to mention the olympic park bomb guy who also bombed an abortion clinic...which group do we know of that loves to bomb abortion clinics. Again, did anyone raise concern over his christian beliefs that would lead him to committing this acts of terrorism?
Now dont get me wrong, far be it from me to defend islam, or christianity or any religion for that matter. I think they are both (all) equally bad and crazy ideas that should be disposed with. But until that happens it irks me that one is constantly called on its bull (as it should be) while the other is beyond approach because the loudest of you consider it sacred.
Now the reason why youve never seen anybody defend a religion so vigorously before, as the left is doing to islam now is...that perhaps there was no need to do so before. Do christians (youll forgive me if i dont break christianity down into specific denominations, i dont have the time nor do i care enough about it to do so) need someone to speak up for them? Well if one listens to them bitch about how they are being persecuted one would think that it was the time of the roman again, when they were being fed to the lions and not the present where they are in the overwhelming majority. The jews apart from not being able to shut up about the holocaust seem to be doing fine as well as do the buddhists, shintoists, hindus and ffs scientologists. The sikh have some problems i hear but thats because people mistake them for muslims due to their unfortunate choice of headwear.
You wonder why the left is standing behind the muslim faith and the people? Have a quick listen to your favourite news station. Its not the people who do the horrifics acts of terrorism that are called evil but rather the religion itself and in turn everyone who belongs to it. And you wonder why theres a need for someone to stand up and say thats going too far?
Remember Bush? Its no secret that I nor any other liberal on this, or any other forum for that matter didnt like him all that much. Yet after 11/9 he gave a speech which i cant be bothered to look for right now, but basically he called out the attackers and extremists and stood behind the religion itself. If even Bush could realise that vilifying a billion people due to actions of select few individuals, then whats the excuse of the righ wing now. Are they in fact dumber than Bush?

You might have to bring it up a few more times as i will admit this is the first time ive heard of it. Let me say that if they hold a blanket ban on every place of worship no matter what religion i dont care about the issue any more as, to me at least it stops being an issue. However, if even one is allowed to rebuild, everyone else must be allowed to do the same. Besides, catholics dont really care about the orthodox church. Lets see if a roman catholic church is banned and how long it takes before the nutcases reach for their guns in defence of god.
On a side not, i find your use of quotation marks very amusing. If theres anything that the liberal media has taught me is that if conservatives hold anything dear to their hearts its the us constitution. I say amusing because so many seem to have issues with the first, fourth, fifth and recently the fourteenth amendments to the count that some would very much like to see some of them gone (or at least severely modified). Just as long as nobody touches the second amendment of course. |
