Really? Rauf- June 2004, C-SPAN:

and... Rauf- March 2009

Just after 9/11, people would ask me, why do so many movements with political agendas take a religious name? I tell them that the Muslim approach to law and justice begins with religious language because secular movements have failed to deliver what Muslims want – life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

If that sounds suspiciously like the Declaration of Independence, that's because – contrary to what many people in the West believe – Islamic law and American democratic principles have many things in common.

Good comparison. Islamic Shariah law is very similar to our founding documents- hard to distinguish. lol

You probably also know that one of Rauf's development partners is Jamal Barzinji is one of the founders of the extremist group Muslim Brotherhood in America. Barzinji founded Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Falls Church, VA where the first WTC bombing plans were hatched as well as the Fort Hood shooting. And I'm sure you're aware that another one of his development partners, Hisham Elzanaty, just had his tax records expose that in 1999 he donated money to the Holy Land Foundation who is Hamas backed and designated a terrorist organization. You know this right? And I guarantee you know that Rauf refused to denounce Hamas as a terrorist organization because "terrorism is a complex word". Nothing to see here... religious outreach healers at work... move along people, move along.

Besides the fact that the whole statement, which ever one quoted is ing false logic and only reinforces the idea that they want to bring this country down to the level of religious tolerance that there is in Mecca, as in none. No tolerance for Muslims. It is an incredibly hypocritical statement!

Well since he prefaced that statement I posted with "When the forces of Jihad attacked New York, they attacked the world," indeed he was talking specifically about the 9/11 attackers who subscribe to that ideology. So yes, he was talking about those who want to bring this country down to the level of religious intolerance there is in Mecca.

quote:
This is the logic that I see in their statement:

New York is tolerant to all religions, people, whatever.
Mecca is not.
Mecca is the home of the religion for this building.
New York shouldn't have to be tolerant if they aren't.
New York now is equal to Mecca.

The way "you" see it is wrong. You twisted that line of thought all to hell.

quote:
Tolerance often doesn't go both ways. Sorry. Its an idea you subscribe to and do not waver from. If you say you tolerate all religions in this country, or you believe in the fundamental part of the bill of rights and the constitution that there is freedom to practice or not practice any religion you like, then you have to tolerate this mosque. Accept it, no, but tolerate it yes. Sorry if you feel otherwise, if you do, then get the out please cause you are cancer on freedom.

lol @ your constant bellowing of "If you don't like it than get the out". By your rationale, I fully expect you to leave the country in November when lots of things you don't like are going to happen after an election drubbing for your beloved Statist party.

You're brain just can't grasp what the opposition is really about, no matter how many times it's been repeated. It's not about building a mosque, or "suppressing religious freedom". It is about that specific location and for a pretty damn good reason. You're one of an ever shrinking minority of people who refuse to see the point of view of the thousands of victims and families who suffered more than your pathetic basement dwelling existence could ever understand.

Yes, I fully expect it to be just the same as the march on rome.

The rise of fascism is coming Kevin, and you seem to be welcoming it with open arms.

Yes, but the opposition is just peoples opinions, they are legally entitled to do whatever the they want.

I can set up a "information center" on how the holocaust is false next to the holocaust museum in Washington, DC if I have the building rights and I purchased or paid for the land to build it on. There is NOTHING you could do to stop me legally. It is my right as a PRIVATE CITIZEN to EXERCISE MY RIGHT to do as I please. Just like these people are allowed to do.

You are just torn up in a frenzy over a non-issue. Seriously, its not an issue, even if it pisses off the families of victims of the attack, thats less than 0.1% of the ENTIRE population of this country, so them. We have bigger issues to deal with than a stupid mosque next to some hole in the ground. Watch as this whole issue goes away after November 2nd. No one will report on it, no officials will demonstrate against it, nothing. It will just, poof, vanish.

Lets see how Kevin could be for the rise of Fascism in the US:

1. Supports Corporate Rights over Civil Rights.
2. Supports suppression of personal liberties.
3. Supports one religion, or national religion, or suppression of undesirable religions.
4. Supports ultra-nationalist movements.

Those are just FOUR of the common signs of fascism that you display Kevin... or do you?

it's pretty obvious you've never heard of a thing called "common decency".

Here you go again, assuming beliefs for me.

1) Wrong.
2) Wrong.
3) Wrong.
4) If said movements are peaceful, I support them, yes. Not going to apologize for loving my country.

Enough!

I'm now for the construction of a gigantic mosque AND a huge gay bar right on ground zero! Then we can have a Ground Zero Mosque next to the House of Jizzlam and Muslims and Christians alike will be united in their off-pissedness.

And, while I'm at it, I'd like to declare that, yes, off-pissedness is a word!

Yes, lets dictate everything we do in NYC by the emotional outbursts of the 15 to 20 thousand people who maybe had a direct relationship with the victims of 9/11, of which who knows how many actually do or do not support this mosque being built, or who simply do not care.

This is the same reason Israel gets treated with child gloves, because of the holocaust. MOVE THE ON ALREADY.
