Exactly... which is why they call it a "community center". Part of the building is a mosque, but not all 13 floors obviously. Thank a Jewish person or a gay person could go in there? No. Think women aren't forced to sit in the back of the room only? Sounds like a pretty inviting sense of "community" to me! When I'm allowed to visit Mecca without being killed, or I see a Jewish synagogue erected in Iran, then I'll believe in their "sense of community outreach and interfaith understanding". |
Jesus christ you're ignorant on levels well, only matched by our fine countrymen here in America.
THIS IS AMERICA, NOT IRAN. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO IS OUR FREEDOM. Why the do you think it is a good idea to compare this country to places less tolerant. Thats the lamest ing argument in the book. "Oh well some muslims over there are really intolerant so why should we..." News ing flash you redneck imbeciles, there is a difference between the Cordoba initiative and Osama Bin Laden, just as not every muslim is a hardline jew hater who wants to destroy America. There are hundreds of thousands of muslims in this country who practice freely and worship freely NOW. Would you like to deport them all now, or should we just put them in internment camps like we did with American japanese during WW2?
SMART people, see this mosque as one of the most fitting yous to islamic terrorists around the world. What better place to build it than next to one of America's deepest wounds. It would be the ultimate test of our will and the strength of what we value: tolerance, freedom, diversity, and most of all NO ING FEAR. That we would not reduce peaceful muslims who wish to practice in the most diverse city on earth to the same level as the people who committed those heinous acts of terror almost ten years ago, that WE CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE, between a terrorist and the other billion plus muslims worldwide.
Sadly many people in this country, as evidenced by this whole 'debate' have not learned a ing thing since September 11th 2001 |

We do live in the best country in the world. that's why people come here so their daughters don't have to become whores and in order to support themselves and/or their families. |
Your poverty and unemployment level would disagree with you.

I consider myself a republican because i studied hard in college and work hard at work so I could be couple of levels above the high school drop out who works at the steel factory. why shouldn't i live in a better house and drive a better car and eat at nicer places. |
Completely irrelevant to the discussion, but wow, you attended college and work hard at your job. Congratulations, you are exactly average.

It is a free country but only if you follow the rules of our country. if not STAY THE OUT !!!!! |
Back to relevancy, according to the rules of your country the people who want to build the community center are not the ones breaking the rules. The ones who are opposing them and inciting hatred based on their religion are. So, by not following the rules, by your own argument, most republicans and conservatives should GTFO. |

You have a strange definition of Republican if you think that isn't the overwhelming disposition of steel factory workers. |

And your voting card says it gives you license to think of life in those terms.
(Ok, so there's no such thing as a voting card. Poetic license) |
