Hate to be the cynic here but last time a massive global protest was held was what, anto iraq protests and what did that achieve again?

The largely peaceful protest was marked by violence in rome. Doesnt give much credibility to the overall message of these protests

Yeah like those civil rights protests and feminist marches, I guess those achieved nothing and we're going to have to hold our breath until we ever see a female secretary of state or a black president.

I disagree, one of the messages is despair... (altho I don't condone it) violence actually adds to their credibility imo...

Italy and Spain are closely behind Greece in the debt crsis... is ed up large over there

I went because I'm kinda sick of having our economy dragged through the dirt because of idiotic American politicians who vote for policy based on the whims of the private interests who fund them.

All Canadians are affected by the American economy.

BTW, I'm an entrepreneur. I work 14hr days, sometimes for zero pay (not always), sometimes through weekends and holidays. I pay taxes on the income I do make.

Just got back from the occupy toronto protest. While there where some good things, the lack of a single cohesive message lead to an almost circus like atmosphere for a large chunk of the day. Different interest groups and circles moving around with no real direction. Things did pick up with the "general assembly" around 5 p.m. and though it did take a long time, it really did feel like true democracy in action. Anyways, I'm sure I'll head down again in the coming days (maybe weeks) ahead. If you're unsure or on the fence, at least pop in, and take a look.

If you really want to see change, needs to be destroyed, things need to be set on fire, cars need to be turned over, mass protests throughout the city and this needs to be repeated daily for months until the damage is enormous and the government finally begins to make real policy changes and certain individuals are put behind bars.

If this doesn't go that route, it will just blow over. On Monday the markets will open and life continues as we know it.
