I just got charged $27+tax for going over my monthly limit with sympatico. I had told my mother to switch, but she didn't believe me.
So I called, got them roll back the charges saying that I did not receive an updated EULA with the extra charges, which could be illegal, and then canceled my account! I knew the changes, but what good is if you do not receive anything official from your services provider?
Back to Acanac for me.
PS - rabbitjoker, could you please add DSL to the title, since we end up discussing internet in here anyways? |

that sucks. what is your limit? 60gb? glad that you got them to roll it back.
i'm still with bell and will be until next may because i'm betting that they'll try to raise the price. i'm currently on unlimited for $35 all in, which suits me just fine. |

not too worried though. i've been paying really really low for the past 2 years. $26-$30/month. if anything, there's teksavvy. |

| smuncky how come you moved back to Bell, I thought you were on teksavvy the entire time? I had to switch because I moved home. |

Nokia E71 Headed to Rogers in Q4

Looks like good ol’ Uncle Ted has decided not to sell the Nokia E71 on his discount Fido network but rather on his flagship and namesake Rogers network. Primed for a Q4 launch, the choice of Rogers over Fido is a bit questionable for a few reasons. The Canadian market for such devices, while growing very quickly, is still rather small. And considering that most of the people this phone is aimed at already have or are planning to get a BlackBerry or an iPhone it just becomes strange. Oh, did we mention that choosing a BlackBerry is a matter of pride for most Canadians and that QWERTY smartphones from the boys of Espoo are hated on in Canadian IT departments for their ditching BlackBerry Connect? No, don’t think we did. |

TELUS jumping on the 4G bus; 2010 launch

High-speed hungry Canadians will soon have a new option when seeking out a wireless carrier. This morning, TELUS officially announced its plans to get rolling on a 4G network with a target launch sometime in early 2010. That’s right people, our pals north of the border will be feasting on 4G data in just over a year while we’re probably still angry that all the iPhone 3Gs out there are dropping throughput to EDGE-like speeds. TELUS CEO snippet time:
This technology evolution is a win for Canadian consumers. TELUS’ investment in next generation wireless services will give our clients more wireless functionality including; international roaming, fast network speeds and a compelling selection of globally-compatible handsets and devices. As the next evolution in our multi-network strategy, this initiative will position TELUS to actively participate in the future global LTE eco-system and leverage economies of scale, offer timely access to handsets, and enhance global roaming relationships and revenues.
Through a revised agreement with Bell, TELUS will be using the 1900 MHz and 850 MHz spectrum and both Nokia Siemens Networks and Huawei will be providing the LTE gear. The entire project is expected to run TELUS about $750 million. |
