| Do any stores in Toronto actually sell the iphone? or can they only be purchased in the US and get shipped over to Canada? Got a friend in Australia who wants one (hasn't been released in AU yet) and is asking me to buy one here and ship it to him. Seems like an expensive exercise. Not even sure if the Apple US store will ship the iphones to Canada. |

I doubt it, because they gotta be activated with the AT&T network to work. Your best bet is like ebay or something. |

Yeh, this is what I told my friend.
| quote: | I discovered that iphones haven't been released in Canada yet either so we'd have to buy it from the US.
According to the Apple Store online:
The online Apple Store sells and ships products only within the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii. No shipments can be made to APO or FPO addresses, freight forwarders, U.S. territories, or addresses outside the U.S.
I’ve tried searching some US-based electronics stores (Bestbuy, Circuit City, Frys) but none of them appear to be selling the actual unit (they only sell the accessories).
My suggestion would be to get somebody in the US to buy it from an Apple store and post it to Australia or you could buy it through ebay and have it delivered directly to Sydney. There’s also unlocked ones available on ebay. |

pretty competitive actually, i ordered a samsung U600 on eBay for 270, but that was a steal, considering they go for 320's and up sometimes, that site has it for 299.99
my seller seems kinda unreliable though, barely responds to emails, if it doesnt arrive this week, i am filing a paypal claim, and ordering from that site, thanks jeff ! |
Waaah, I wish I knew about this site 2 weeks ago :P Coulda saved $30 on my D900i. Oh well. It's a sick phone, tho. I have no idea why there's no Canadian network that offers it. |

One of the senior mngrs here at my firm just discovered an unknown policy that all senior managers are entitled to a blackberry on the firm!
So the two of them just received the 8800 with unlimited data plans, etc. of course.
Eff'n EH!
Free sickkkkkk blackberry plus you dont have to pay anything at all monthly either -- firm picks up that bill too.
Insentive to climb the ranks :) hehe |

Did you even read what I wrote?
I said: there are unlimited email/msging packages - but not unlimited data (as in WAP, browser, other applications) packages.
The URL you provided clearly states that it is only unlimited email/bbmsnger.
Sure you can send all the email you want but if you push 30 MB with OperaMini or Google Maps you will get charged.
NOBODY has unlimited data on a BB (email/msging is separate from application data). |

RJ, you're right about the stuff for Blackberries, but Bell has a $7/mo unlimited data plan for the HTC Touch only. Full HTML browsing as well, not WAP garbage. EV-DO network too.
Anyway I've got the Touch from Rogers, had it for over a month now.
I love this phone to death. I use it as my GPS with iGo 2006 software, (I much prefer this to TomTom software), I got the SPD Fullscreen Keyboard (full touchscreen qwerty keyboard, hooray), and Salling Clicker (turns my phone into a Bluetooth or WiFi remote to control my PC with, browse music libraries on my PC, etc). Probably the coolest piece of software ever. Opera Mini is my browser of choice, Pocket IE is trash, and I really don't like Opera 8.65. Having tried Microsoft's Deepfish browser beta, I can say that Opera Mini is actually better than what Microsoft is working on to replace Pocket IE.
Also, I overclocked my phone. |
