I can confirm (from a very deep source) Roger's will be having 4G LTE before both Telus & Bell.

Proof you may ask, already they have 3.5G running from coast to coast, so you know their way a head of the rest

What, the fact that every single person within a 200km radius of Moscow has at least 14 types of terminal cancer isn't enough for you, and you want them to run speedtest.net?

How insensitive of you.

Now on a serious note... My mom's friend's son is conning my mom into getting a TELUS phone and plan that's WAY beyond her means.

She currently has the Talk $20/200 PCS plan, which she currently pays for $20 (less service charges) for 200min anytime minutes and voicemail, and she's long past her contract so month by month now. Her average monthly bill is around $30 (inc taxes, 911 and system access fee). She never ever went past 200 minutes a month in the last 5 years talk time, and never had or needed an evening or weekend plan either. The phone is for on the road convenience only.

So this guy talks into a blackberry pearl on a 3 year plan, a "Your Choice 25" plan (with free eve and weekends selected), and a "Bundle 20" to have call display.

My mom doesn't even know how to text, and checks her email on her computer. She's old FFS.

Now, she doesn't want to dammage any relationship she has with her friend, and is sort of committed to improving her plan with the shady son.

After a long heated talk with my mom, and finally broker it down that her bill will got from $30-35 a month to $70, with a possiblility of going over the crappy new 150 minutes vs the 200 she has now.

All she needs is caller-id. Honestly.

Anyone know how much is to add caller-ID only to her plan. Her phone is fine.

And if she feels like she has to sign up with a plan for a free phone she doesn't need, what's the cheapest for a simple phone, 200 min, caller-id and vmail?

damn thats a ty situation. heres what i would do...
1) let her sign up so she doesnt hurt anyones feelings, as shes already agreed to do this...

2) the next day call telus for her and explain the situation, they'll change the plan to something more appropriate and i see no reason why called ID wouldnt be added on for free

I believe telus also has a $17.50 voice plan, similar to the rogers/fido one, that should suffice. Good luck.
