think of all the development cost savings they're getting by having other people hack and develop it for them!

Finally!
I remember when I lived in Montreal for a bit quite a while ago they just introduced cell phone service between a few main stations which was nice.
But it'll be good to get service. Not to talk on, but do read emails, and check stuff on the internet while i'm in transit.
|
thats new to me, there's no signal in the metro generaly.
There's some signal repeaters in big stations, but nothing in between.
I think it's good not to have signal between tunnels, at least no talking.
Imagine if everyone is yapping in the metro like in Paris where they have signal everywhere ugh. |

horrible news in terms of not being able to have some peace on the subway. the next thing i need is some idiots yapping on the cell about pointless .
having our subway not totally underground is an advantage since we are able to call when it's outside. that should be plenty of time to call if you need to.
i'd rather they install wifi. |

Wifi will be amazing ... but don't forget, VOIP apps. But not everyone will use it yet. |

people already yap away on surface routes, why delay the inevitable? besides if this is a concern over etiquette we might as well ban noisy teenagers, people who pick their nose, and any other kind of 'undesireable' public behaviour..
the subway is as much of a public space as a bus, streetcar, soon to be city-LRT, or any other TTC facility. the fact that it so happens to be primarily underground doesn't mean that we should simply ban cell phone service because a subset of the population exudes poor etiquette?

$459.
I'm going to spend the extra $40 on an HP Mini 1035NR to get a smaller harddrive (only 60GB) but Bluetooth and a vastly, VASTLY superior keyboard. |

I thought about this really hard ... my solution to keep everyone happy
Apply Roaming or extra charge = $1.00/ min (Only use it for emergency calls to keep the peace & quite)
Wifi = FREE
Txt Msg = FREE
what you guys think? |

Wish I had a photo of our family's "car phone" from the early 90s!
It was ridiculous! (comparatively, hahahaha)
SO HUGE. SO "not" potable (outside of the car) |

what happens when VoIP starts getting more popular? I think it's pointless trying to enforce this kinda stuff.. you might as well ban it on buses and streetcars too if that's the case
