is it safe to buy those iphones found on craigslist?? they are unlocked and all.

Not willing to pay Fido 350$ + 85$ extra fee + 3 years of contract.

Probably as safe as buying any other piece of electronics off of craigslist.

Just make sure when you meet them, that you have a valid, active SIM card, and try it out on the spot. Don't be fooled for the Russian trick of 'dead battery"."dead battery".

Isn't that the whole point of them being unlocked? And no. You can activate the phone through iTunes i believe at home. My buddy got a phone through a friend, and i reloaded the firmware on it. When it booted up, iTunes searched for a valid SIM card to try and register with. When I got mine, the guy at the Rogers store just plugged in the cable, opened iTunes and went through the same procedure i was doing for my friend.

But, I do believe the whole point of unlocking is to get around that BS.

yeah you're right, sorry for being a jack ass :D

First activation must be done @ Rogers or Fido stores. After that it's no need for iTunes activations. Sometimes a jailbroken unit will ask you to plug it into iTunes for activation ... you can do that, or just reboot it and your ok from there.

Certainly is a question. Maybe for crappy browsers like mom and dad, but for power users, and businesses, you will never match the speed and efficiency of a wired connection.
"i'm sorry sir, but we cannot improve the speeds for your internet connection, there is a building in the way".

tru say.. i meant it in the context of your average residential end user and consumer

"Sprint Has Palm Pre Locked Up in U.S. for Entire Year"

Now that's lame ... I have strong feeling the Canadian Pre is locked down to Bell. Since Bell has been picking up all the Palm units lately.

Still got a Vodaphone GSM pre coming ... not all hope is lost.

damn looks like some guy unlocked the wrong phone..

Man shot inside Pacific Mall
February 20, 2009
Jesse McLean
Staff Reporter

A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being shot in the head inside the Pacific Mall.

A single gunshot rang through the mall around 8:45 p.m., just 15 minutes before the building closed for the night.

Steve Wong, a supervisor at Auto Parts in the mall, ran out of his shop to see a man slumped on the floor outside a mobile phone store, surrounded by security guards.

The shooter had already fled the scene.

"It's pretty scary. Nobody expects this to happen inside a mall," he said.

Police confirmed they are looked for a male shooter, wearing a black winter jacket.

Officers were stationed all around the mall, blocking pedestrians and vehicles from leaving the area.

"Nobody's leaving until we've collected all the information we can," said Const. Cathryn Harris of York region police.

Wong said he believes the violence will scare away some of the centre's customers.

"People won't want to come. They are shocked," he said.

Pacific Mall, located at Kennedy Rd. and Steeles Ave. E., is the largest indoor Asian mall in North America with more than 400 shops and boutiques.

It's funny how people make comments like this about products they haven't even used...

TealOS brings Pre experience pre-Pre!

When we saw those bizarre images of a Centro seemingly running webOS a few days ago, we declared that it could've been someone "hard at work on a webOS skin for Palm OS." Turns out that's exactly what was going on -- and after watching a video of just how thorough the makeover is, we're pretty blown away. Anyone either in love with the hardware of their Palm OS 5-based device or made physically ill by the thought of switching to Sprint to get the Pre might want to seriously consider TealOS' $14.95 asking price, because it'll get you quite a bit of the visual dazzle webOS promises -- cards (which don't appear to be live, but show you where you left off when you minimized), the wave launcher, translucent app menu, and more. Follow the break for the video of TealOS doing its thing.

[Via PreThinking, thanks Philip]

Just *got* it and will be loading it up in a few mins .... Talk about the true meaning of "Die Hard" fans of Palm OS5

Here some sad news, the store which this took place @ Pmall is called X Site. I always went to that shop only. They were super nice to me & always went the extra mile.

Here's what happened, some black dude wanted to exchange or refund his units. Of course this won't be happening, all these phones are imported from Asia & it's not Corp store of Canadian carrier. So the black dude came back & shot one of the owner, Daniel Cheong.

RIP Daniel
