Palm Pre is Cracking Up?
Under: Other Mobile Phones Date: June 16th, 2009

How long has the Palm Pre been available? Not long enough for reports of screen cracking. However apparently precentral has received its first report of a Palm Pre screen cracking which was reported the day after the launch.

The word is that Palm Pre screen cracks aren’t just an isolated case either as a fair quantity of Palm Pre owners are reporting screen cracks around the centre button and form a spider web across the screen.

Having said that, Sprint is quick to replace any cracked Palm Pre handset without having to go through the TEP. But it has to be said that this sort of thing happening so early on in the life of the Palm pre does not bode well.

**********************************

That's too bad, I won't be getting this ver of the Pre and what I've read, getting a replacement unit is total pain in the ass.

It's a design flaw, 99% of all these cracks are from the home button ... and some are end to end cracks and the others are tiny ones. No matter what, your digitizer snaps in this process.

Thanks to another anonymous tipster, we have some wonderful info regarding the Launch of WIND MOBILE.

First we start with the plans. There will be none of the following:

- No contracts
- No System Access Fee
- No Caller ID or Voice Mail fees
- No in province Long Distance (i.e. calling anywhere in your province should be a local call)

There will also only be 3 rate plans to start.

Next we move on to the phones.

- Bold 9700
- HTC Snap/Dash 3g
- Huawei U8220
- There will also be a Samsung slider. Not too sure on the model but it is one with a full slide out keyboard.

Nokia posts $834 million quarterly loss, smartphone share down to 35%

Nokia just posted a net loss of 559 million euro (834 million dollars) for the third quarter -- its first quarterly loss in a decade according to the AFP. The loss comes after a reported 20% drop in sales and 1.17 billion euros in write-downs, mostly for impairment charges on Nokia Siemens Networks. Nokia also said that its smartphone market share dropped to 35% versus 41% in the previous quarter. With fierce competition from Apple and RIM, and Palm just launching its Pre into Nokia's European stronghold, well, it's a good thing Nokia's branching out into untapped markets like single-core Atom-based netbooks.

Awesome! If the plans are great or reasonable i may finally have a reason to leave solo?

We'll see. Love that im on a month to month contract w/ solo, so i can leave any time i chose to take advantage of this new carrier if they any good.

But to be honest, im happy as a pig in wiht my amazing solo plan and my pearl.

No real desire to wanna change companies. :)

Motorola DROID spotted in fine GSM form (video)

While the newly launched DROID is keeping us plenty busy, we'd be remiss if we didn't hep you to this hands-on video that's recently popped up on the YouTubes. Of Vietnamese origin, we do believe that this is the first GSM version of the phone we've caught on tape. All seems to be going well until about 2 minutes 7 seconds, when the viewer encounters a "considerable lag" in between gesturing to open the app drawer and the event itself. But don't take our word for it -- see for yourself after the break.
