Not at all. My hair actually looks best after not washing it for a couple days (dry shampoo ftw) and it sorta does it's own thing. I braid it a lot or put it up in high loose buns. But even to style it fresh with a blowdryer only takes about 10-15 minutes. To run the flat iron through it (as I did in the second pic) also only takes about 10-15 minutes.

I should mention that good, salon quality shampoo + conditioner are essential.

i was blessed with thick, coarse, curly hair. i wear it long and can wear it straight or curly. that being said, short hair looks atrocious on me. i have always been jealous of those who can rock short hair. so, banora, grass is always greener :)

Nice, Jenny! I was thinking it was hours of labor to make it look pretty. I might let it grow out and see what happens. I see all these cute hairstyles on randoms blogs on Stumbleupon and I want to do it so badly.

This is the longest my hair has been since I was 7 (NYE 2008, at Tiesto. The shame. ._.)

That is the kind of hair I dream of! My childhood best friend had tht sort of hair and I was endlessly envious. I want thick, bouncy curls like my wig!

You know, you act as though I have never been around a transgender person. Considering I used to live with 4 of them and had several close friends ranging from your run-of-the-mill drag queen to full MtF (and one FtM) I am well aware of these issues. I am also well aware that they, at least, my friends, weren't so quick to toss the sexual offense card in the air every time something regarding gender came up. They were all pretty light-hearted and, to be honest knowing them, would find your constant crying foul and using the fact you are a transexual to get all uppity over sex and gender more harmful than helpul to their cause and awareness.

But, that is just my friends and the people I used to know.

let me get this straight, are suggesting that transgender people ought have to have the same opinion? and you're judging me for being different than them? because i'm not a 'house tranny'?? :wtf:

i should just sit back and worry about my lipstick like all the other 't$*$%&s', because all transgender people should be light-hearted? right. i forgot, time to go back down to my lowest rung on the social ladder. it's not cool to be proud of myself and my trans-sisters and brothers. it's not cool to educate people on archaic pejorative words that perpetuate hate and alienation. ABC ALWAYS BE COOL.

"their cause and awareness"?

it's MY cause and awareness. I don't like it, and many of my transgender friends, and I myself have at one point (at least) been the victim of (trans)gender-based violence and abuse.

most transgender people I know have so many problems living their day to day life they simply don't have the time or energy to worry about the larger issues we face as a whole. i am not your transgender friends.

"it's cool, i have trans friends."
unbelievable.

do you know the history of the word 'uppity'?

No, if anything most of the MtF I knew are black. They'd probably tell her to grow up and stop crying like a bitch all the time, she is smearing her mascara.

Heh, I was trying to convey that Nef is the type that just tends to look out for something to be offended by, almost to he point where I question his decision to become trans-gender as not one that was from a gender identity crisis, but more so because he felt the need to be unique and something he could rally around. If he could be black on top he could pretend to be offended by EVERYTHING. :stongue:

Did you know if you Google the word 'uppity' it takes you to all of your posts on TA since you came out as transgender?

Yes, just like you endlessly play the whole 'waaah that is offensive to the trans community even if it is a picture of something mildly related' card I am playing the 'Its cool, I have (insert race/religion/sexual orientation being offended)friend' card.

By all means, please keep pushing for acceptance. Do I think the overall treatment of the LGBT community is appalling? Absolutely, but I am also not going to take up arms every time someone makes a humorous joke. Playing the martyr is tiresome. If it makes you happy, then do it, but don't be surprised when someone, even the someone you are lobbying for, rolls their eyes.

I also like how she acts like she's the only person who's ever been a victim/target of violence or abuse. right off. :stongue: :stongue:

OMG TRANSGENDER PEOPLE HAVE IT WORSE THAN ANYONE ELSEEEEEE WAHHHHHHHH!!!

@nef i see your point but i honestly don't think banora meant to insult trans people... i don't particularly like it when people call things that are dumb/inconvenient/etc "gay" but i'm not going to lecture them every time they do. making someone have to walk on eggshells around you for the use of an expression does little to encourage them to be more tolerant if you yourself take things meant in a nonoffensive, joking way as a serious insult. i have an enormous amount of empathy for the societal misunderstanding and persecution of transgendered people, but i still think the expression "hot tranny mess" is funny. does that make me a bad person? am i condoning the persecution of transgenders? no, i don't think so. but then again, i hang out with queens 50% of the time so maybe their bitchiness is rubbing off on me.

It's why people have a hard time referring to you as either 'he' or 'she' - you say you would like to become one, but you do your best to distance yourself from either whenever it suits your argument. You willingly become neither and both. There has to be a more specific term for that, does there not?

look, i'm sorry to have insulted the intelligence and life experience of a know-it-all im-down-with-transpeople person

but without knowing you, if I see someone using that word in an offensive way and it seems like they don't understand that it i an offensive word to begin with, I'm going to point it out.

i'm sure there will be people reading this thread who will see this and realize for the first time that it's not OK to use that word.

i don't mean to single you out.
