no, the point is that not a lot of people understand that 'tranny' is a pejorative and the respectful word is 'transgender woman' or 'transgender man' or 'transgender person' or 'gender non-conforming' person.
sorry it's not cool to point that out, but it's something i care about, more than being friends with a bunch of random internet degenerates. |

| Well I know lots of trannies who have no problem with it, and refer to themselves and other trannies as trannies. Obviously they are fools and nobody has taught them to be butthurt yet! |

yeah, so why the hell should '******' be blocked out? all the cool black people say it on TV!
also, Hal, it's "she", as I've clearly pointed out many times. there is no confusion about that except for those who are either trying to get a rise out of me, or actually have strong anti-transgender opinions. In my real life, there are some people who have known me a very long time for whom it is actually excusable to slip up and use the wrong pronoun out of habit, but here it is not a question of alienating myself when I have made my preference for gendered pronouns exceedingly clear time and again. |

Yes, it IS offensive when you use it in a hurtful way, usually when directed at someone to lower their overall sense of self-worth. I also think instilling fear and loathing into a word and creating a sense of shame to anyone who uses it is worse. Didn't you learn anything from Harry Potter? |
