yeeh, it's totally FIFA's fault that your beloved English players fold like cheap suits when the preasure's on and it's time to take PK's.
:haha:
There's only one thing more entertainng than watching the English team get (inevitably) beaten. And that's the self-indignant "isn't Johnny Foreigner a bloody bad sport, against our brave, innocent young men" ranting that inevitably follows. The day that the Brits admit they were beaten by a better team without any of the usual conspiracy theories is the day the monkeys abandon Gibraltar.
Anyone care to discuss how the Ricardo actually saved a few PK's, while Robinson was wrong footed every time? Points to the first who manages to blame the ref/FIFA for that too.... |
So, how many World Cups have Portugal won again? Another football fan who chimes in every four years eh? Portugal haven't had the opportunity to get screwed over because they've only ever made 4 World Cups in their history.
Beaten by the better team my ass. Pretty much everyone who watched that game said the better did not win. You did see that England were down to ten men and Portugal didn't come anywhere close to breaking them down right? Penalties are luck and and that's the only way Portugal can beat England. Neither of these teams would have stood a chance against France anyway.
But it's ok because after Wednesday, your vague nationalism won't require you to watch any more games once Portugal are destroyed by a team of class and skill. |

that's terrible about your mom's car! wtf was that all about!
I don't really mind the World cup, I went to a couple of games three years ago when I was living in South Korea, they were fun, but overall I don't enjoy sports all that much. So it's just like any sporting season ;) |

Portugal fans don't like Germany fans I suppose, so they broken our flag off, and spray painted " Portugal " on it. Losers. Broke the back windshield and keyd the car. My mom laughed about it. WTF, put a new flag on, fixed the windshield, and got a new paint job. I thought she was gonna flip, but she laughed it up and said " its all in the game i guess " |

That's exactly what I was expecting. But no, she was all calm and in the "whatever" vibe. |

| Just watched the Brazil vs France game (wasn't home all weekend). The better team definitely won that game. There were no controversial calls, not a lot of major mistakes by the refs, nothing. It was simply a much better team beating a mediocre Brazil. The French were much more effective, Zidane had a great game, their defence and midfield were extremly good at shutting down an already lacking Brazil. Dissapointing at the way Brazil played (not that surprising after seeing their first few games). Sloppy passes, horrible defensive mistake on the goal wtf (was Carlos doing), almost no crosses, runs that ended in nothing. Brazil did not deserve to win that one. Heart-breaking as a Brazil fan but I'm sure they'll be back as the old generation give way to the new one. Congratulations France. I'd like to see a Germany vs France final. |

Germany midfielder Torsten Frings was banned from the World Cup semi-finals after a disciplinary committee found video evidence of him striking an Argentina player in a post-match fracas in the quarter-finals.
FIFA's disciplinary committee announced the ban on Monday, on the eve of Germany's semi-final against Italy at Dortmund.
He was banned for two matches - with one suspended for six months - and fined 5000 Swiss francs ($5500).
That means he can play in either the final or the third-place playoff of the World Cup, but will have to serve the balance of the ban if he is charged with any other kind of misconduct over the next six months.
Two Argentine players were cited on the weekend and initially all the German players were cleared, but FIFA started an investigation into Frings' involvement after images of the skirmish were broadcast on TV in Germany and Italy.
He was found guilty of violent misconduct.
German media reported on Monday the Italian soccer federation gave FIFA the TV footage that sparked the investigation, hoping to have the hardworking midfielder suspended for the semi-final.
FIFA and the Italian federation have denied any national association had lobbied for the investigation.
Frings was contacted late on Sunday and asked to submit his account of the incident to FIFA's disciplinary committee by this morning.
It took the committee more than four hours to deliver its verdict.
