Argentina...no way.
Look at the history folks. A European team will win it since it is in Europe. Brazil are not strong enough to win in a climate that favours Europeans (yes, this has a lot to do with it). By contrast, whenever the WC is set in South America/Mexico/Asia/USA where it's hotter, Brazil usually trounce.
Remember I said this. I know my football. |

frankly id be surprised if germany make it past the quarter final stage ... in 2002 they made it to the finals courtesy oliver kahn and 4 years later his best days are long behind him and its the same with his backup jens lehmann who i never rated highly anyway ... ballack is definately a player who can turn a game around single handedly but the rest of the team just doesnt look that good (although i still rate kuranyi very highly) |
whaaaaaaaaaaat? have you seen schweinsteiger??? deisler ???hitzlsperger ??? all fantastic youngsters that have so much to show.
edit: this is actually the first world cup that i will be looking forward to watch germany play. with so many young energetic stars this team is going to provide some of the most interesting football in the tourney! |

diesler sucks now ... unless he steps up ...
schweinsteiger is agile ... yet he faks up on a lot of good opportunities ...
both players have low accuracy in their crosses + shots
i follow every single bayern game ... (watch it )so right now, all i could say is that germany is no powerhouse anymore |

I believe non of the big Euro teams deserve to win it, except maybe Holland.
actaully it would be cool if it's won by a new country (except by America of course)
anyways, Go Eastern Euro teams and Argenitna  |

Spain will not go thru... which is great, for once them mo'az get left behind and none of the BS they had along the way against much stronger teams will help them in the end.

Holland never have won it and they won't win it this time. They're almost as bad as England for choking/getting screwed by FIFA. |

England's worse. Have a MUCH stronger league and they've won NOTHING....
Well, the WC they DID win was @ home. *beside that one |

hahah you my friend know nothing about the german team... i wouldn't talk about them like that :)
when playing home, any medicore team can become a title contender, but when you have a fast and talented team, then sky's the limit. |
...and with a well-respected coach like Jurgen Klinsmann :D (my favourite player of the 90's as well) |

The only reason why England can't win the WC's is because exactly what you stated. Their league is the toughest/strongest league on this planet. The players are beign squeezed out every bit of sweat on every game they play. It's no wonder when it comes for Englands national team to play tournaments, the players are just ridicously tired. |

THEY WILL GO ALLLLL THE WAY TO THE FINALS ....

BRAZIL's Defense is fragile ... due to players like LUCIO, who love to attack and leave their posts ... brazil is vulnerable to counter attcks ... just watch the Japan vs. brazil game ...
a relatively weak team (japan) vs. all time best WC record team
and japan could have easily won the game |
Japan isn't a weak team. They don't have a great striker who can consistently put the ball in the net, but they have pretty damn good midfield.

TURKEY HAS THE NEXT superstar
SAHIN Nuri
he got called up to the national team at age 17
he got called up to play in the bundesliga for dortmund @ AGE 16 (all time record)
i love the underdogs
:nervous: :nervous: :nervous: :nervous: |
Turkey does have a lot of team cohesion I find even if they don't have many big names. May be a darkhorse next tourney.

i'll tell you where they are. it was a fluke that they won euro cup and everyone knows that. they played a defensive style of football with a defensive trap down the middle. it was so ugly to watch them, considering they only took one shot on goal during the whole match. they never made it before and there is no reason for them to make it next year or in the future just b/c of one flukey tournament. they are just like the anaheim in the nhl when they made it to stanley cup finals or carolina or florida and teams like that. it just proves that any given game, anything can happen, which i think is good for the sport that big teams don't always win, but just don't go out there saying oh what happened to greece because they are not even in top 20 teams in the world. |
I'll tell you what happened. Other countries adapted. (Though poor Greek quality in finishing didn't help)
Once you win something big, you become a target. More time spent on scouting you.

if england hit top form next year, i reckon they have a very good chance of winning the cup .... personally, i think on paper england have the best squad after brazil ... a midfield comprising of joe cole/downing , lampard, gerrard and beckham is undoubtedly a force to contend with .... |
I agree. England should do well. But England does have trouble with strikers. Need more consistency from there.
| quote: |
same goes with italy ... on paper, the team looks phenomenal ... till last year it was given that the italian forward line will comprise of either DP, vieri and cassano but these 3 are going to struggle to make even the bench now with gilardino and Luca Toni announcing their arrival on to the seen .... |
Italy always finds a way to choke.

Adamo, ur right, polish soccer has expanded in terms of players playing for good teams, they have an amazing team in my view.
underrated, but thats good.
they will show some good stuff in germany,
I just hope they are in the groups i have tickets for!!! |
If they play like anything like WC2002, they'll suck big time.

TBH, Kahn still isn't doing that bad. Though with keepers, age doesn't matter as much to them.
Kuranyi sucks. Need to see more Podolski and maybe Michael Hanke.
Klinsmann has the Germans play a more open, more fluid attacking football that should be interesting to watch. They have the necessary players, it's just wait to see if they can pull it off.

You forgot losing penalty shootouts.
:toothless
Would love to see WC... Go Korea! (Even if I know that you don't have Hiddink anymore and will probably lose on 2nd round) |
