I've been following Argentian soccer for a while mainly cuz River is one of my teams i love to watch and they bring all my favourite soccer players to europe (saviola, aimar, mascherano, cambiasso etc). This year's Argentina squad is not as good as it is normally. Starting from their keeper, it is a weaker squad then any other world cup i've seen argentina in. Next world cup they will have a good team b/c a lot of their young players will be on top of their game such as javier mascherano, juan roman riquelme, pablo cesare aimar and the rest. but this year i don't see them going far, i see them getting 2nd place in their group and getting knocked out by Portugal in the first round. Guys like Crespo aren't going to beat Brazil especially. Last time in the Confederations Cup, Brazil humiliated Argentina and without some of their best players like Lucio or Juninho.
I think if the Checks get a 2nd in their group, they might knock off Brazil b/c Brazil will not have played a serious game by then (only vs croatia but this years croatia team isn't as strong imo) and they might have not build up that confidence level. But I still think Brazil is taking it hands down. Nobody can stop their powerful squad, the best Brazil squad i've seen while I lived on this planet.

Yah, I checked that page before but it only says Preview show for Thur. Coming form TSN, it could mean anything but I know that the ceremony is suppose to happen right before the game on Fri (unless I misread). It's supposed to include Maradona, Pele, Claudia Schiffer, etc walking into the stadium with the cup, Toni Braxton singing, etc...
The Opening Ceremony for the FIFA World Cup 2006™ will be held on the 9th of June 2006, immediately prior to the Opening Game in the brand new World Cup stadium in München (picture: the construction site for the new stadium during Christmas 2003). To celebrate the Ceremony just before the kickoff of the first game has been a FIFA tradition and Germany 2006 will not deviate from this principle.
I was right, if they show it, it would be on Friday unless TSN has a feed into the future :p.

Ok, so the game is suppose to start at 18:00 european central time, that is noon for us and sportsnet has the game scheduled at 11:30am. That leaves 30 mins for the commentators to talk irrelevant crap as usual and some time for the opening ceremony? hmm ..

The Opening ceremonies are supposed to take 30 mins. If the canadian commentators can shutup and avoid commercials, they can fit it before the game! lol..

Rooney was in full training today, has a scan tomorrow.:D If he plays, he can make all the difference.

i think Athlete's World has some of the popular ones...Brazil, Germany, Holland, Italy, England, etc. At least they do here in London. Be prepared to pay though...upwards of 130 bucks!
