- incorrect, Grosso made a forward run, passed 3 Aussies, had a clean break and only a shot on goal less than 10 feet from goal and he was tripped IN THE BOX.
- not even going to comment on the Ukraine game, as it was Shevchenko and the Ukrainian coach who commented on the ultimate strength of the Italian team

- I agree the second half was controlled, dominated if you will by the French. When you say owned do you take into consideration that France was handed a poorly called penalty kick, an esspecially powerful call which could have ended Italy's chances....and when they scored really what does France have to prove...all of a sudden the owness is on Italy to score in regulation time to force a tie. A feat they did....how does that not earn a place in your explanation of a world cup final that we all watched. Not to mention a second header goal that was disallowed, was ofside but only marginally - thus proving that Italy was still on the offensive.
As for Buffon, too bad you are too clouded by your hate for Italy, Buffon is a talent, one which kept Italy's chances for victory alive when he made a very impressive stop in a game almost void of his presence....MOst fans of Buffon were likely shocked by his poor PK skills, however again why is teh burden of proof on the Italian to be better when Barthez was equally as unimpressive.
Who exactly determined Brazil to be teh favourites, their overly offensive soccer is easily figured out, defensive solid man to man marking beats that bRazil style...Brazil was only a favourite to brazialians and Nike ad execs. They were dull, inimpressive and ultimatley no match for a team who barely squeeked by the first round; the French.
Match fixing and scandals....what exactly does that have to do with the world cup, if you are sugessting that Italy fixed this game, say it, leaving that statement to innuendo is tactless and petty. If you are not they why point it out, either way skill prevailed.
Of the people below, there were a large amount who were not Italian, and wanted to enjoy the celebration of the end of the world cup which favoured Italy. Too bad you wish to lay a Black mark upon this event, this victory means something to alot of people. Your armchair attempts to diffuse that excitement is seen as desparate especially with your love for the German team...they lost to the World Cup winners that should be something to hold higher than what you are doing to destroy the win....for the record I beleive 100% that German, like Italy would have beaten France...France had a good game in the final, but they were not meant to win.

10 feet or not, the goalie and the defender were right there and could (and prob. would) have easily blocked his attempt at a goal.
the matter of the fact is the Aussie player should not have been in the way unless he was able to get a cleaner slide tackle, but when Grosso saw his chances at a goal were slim he seemed to CHOOSE to trip and take advantage of the situation. Technically, you can consider it a foul... but when a player does something like that I consider it a dive.
And what bothers me most is the fact that a soon as he hears the whistle, him and his team mates begin to celebrate and the italian players crouch down to congradulate him on his performance.
