cote d'ivoire were way too lenient, too soft. They woke up only in the last 20 minutes or so. And then came the usual latin waste of time technics in the last 8 minutes.... geezuz pathetic, they should make some rules about that. |
agreed. They showed no aggression whatsoever. |

Despite the fact I'm cheering for Argentina, Jose Pekerman is an idiot and always will be!
Ok I understand Messi isn't 100% and he wants to rest him, but why wouldn't you bring Carlos Tevez and instead bring on Pallacio??? And keep Aimar at bench for 90 minutes of play??? One of the most craftiest midfielders around, he doesn't even play him!! It is obvious that Aimar with Riquelme play well with Javier Mascherano playing a more stopper position behind them, but no, Mr.Pekerman never liked Aimar despite the fact that he's a player who can turn the outcome of the game. Can't wait for Brazil to teach him a lesson again just like the finals of Confederations Cup!! And not taking Zanetti on the team was a big mistake in him once more. Bottom line, Jose Pekerman will not coach Argentina after this world cup. |

Agreed 100%! I was screaming at the scream for not seeing Messi/Aimar. Maybe he's saving them for the "tougher" matches? |

I totally agree.
I was super happy that Aimar got at least a minute of play time! Reminded me back in 2002 when they threw in Aimar for the last few minutes of the game against England and he actually created a chance at a goal in my eyes. He deserves more playing time. Pallacio was a bad call also, that speaks for itself. |

A lot of you guys must never watch England games. They never destroy their opponents. They rise to the level of their competition usually. They make it hard on themselves and let's face it, they are totally lacking something they need...Wayne Rooney. It's the first game, they won...who cares it's 3 points. Plus the Mexican referee was a ing moron. What was it? 10 fouls called on Crouch...for WHAT? Only European referees should be used because these guys from other continents are horrible.
Paraguay had only one REAL chance on goal anyway. It was a crap game...too much doddling by both teams, back passing too often, clogged midfields, poor tackling, etc. I"m much more shocked by Sweden's inability to score against T and T, who were down a man with 40 minutes to go! |

Go Holland!!
Man of the match: Robben |

Holland FTW :D:D:D:D
Holland walked all over Serbia in the first half, but Serbia came out to play in the second half. Van Der Sar was definitely on his game cuz the Nederland defence is a little on the weak side.
And Robben.. OMG, he was definitely the star of this game. What was with the substitution of Van Nistelrooy? :eyes:
Either way, I am certainly one happy camper about this win this morning and it was certainly worth me waking up for :p |

The dutch played a strategic game. and I think that Van Nistelroooy came off because the serbia defence was playing a different style. Kuyt is more physical but I think van nistelrooy will be back next game.
:D :D so happy holland is on track. Oranje storms germany  |

Well, with a 3 prong attack, not much a striker can do in a very compact defense, which is why you saw Robben and Van Persie switching sides, it was like bombing from each side, and Van Nistelrooy just couldn't do much today |

The Serbs' marking of van Nistelrooy was what effectively gave Robben the freedom to play as he did. van Basten prolly substituted Ruud with the next two games in mind anyways.
Funniest moment of the game was Koromans waving an imaginary card to the referee after he was fouled, then the ref goes, "Sure man, here ya go" :stongue: |
