Can anyone tell me how _any_ team can beat Brazil this year? LOL .. Their squad is ridiculous. They shouldn't be allowed to play to make it fair for the rest of the world :p. Some may say that a European team is going to win it since they are playing in Europe because after all, only European teams win in Europe. However, guess who was the only non-European team to ever win in Europe? The "playing in Europe" factor is going to have to be very strong this year :D
Can't in wait!

Well history is definately against brazil. They might have won 5 world cups but every world cup held in europe has been won by a european nation. I usually back Brazil but enough is enough.
Besides England (assuming rooney's fit), Italy and Argentina have fantastic sqauds that i reckon will give brazil a serious run for their money. |

Actually that is wrong. As I said on my post, guess who was the the only non-european team to ever win in Europe (1958) :). Not only that, as you know, most of their players play in Europe right now. lol but yah, even though I don't think you can compare the teams from that year to this year, I think Brazil still has a very good chance - it's still going to be hard playing in Europe but I think they can pull it off. I will continue to support them simply because they are the best, regardless of how many cups they won and if it's enough or not.
I would love to see an England vs Brazil final! that would be insane. However, it's going to be hard given how the groups are setup :(. |

I'm sorry but England doesn't stand a chance with Crouch and Walcott up front!
Brazil hands down though. I'm willing to bet my left nut and my house at the same time!
p.s. anyone knows anybody who's willing to sell quarter final or semi final tickets???? i'm willing to pay $$$ for them!!! |

Theres a possibility of England facing Holland or Portugal(assuming holland finish second in their group and portugal win theirs) in the Quarter's if they finish top of their group and if they can overcome that, then anything can happen. Brazil, well looking at the team they have, they should overcome everything. FFS even their goalkeeper (Roger Ceni) has a proven record for scoring since he takes freekicks and penalties for his club. I CANT WAIT!!!!!! |

I'd say the one notable factor that would work against the likes of Brazil and all the major European nations is the fact that pretty much all their players do play for the big UEFA club teams, which basically means they play way too many matches over the course of a season. France of '02 and '04 are a prime example of how conditioning and fatigue can take its toll in a major tournament.
Who would've predicted Greece would have won Euro 2004 or Turkey and South Korea making the semi-finals of the last World Cup? Their squad consisted of players who - while arguably not of the same skill level - were undoubtedly fresher since their club teams don't play two matches a week.
This makes me a bit more optomistic about my Oranje (just not overly ;)).
But ya, with that said, why else would you bet against Brazil? That's their most attractive lineup since the '82 squad. Just the thought of seeing them is making me excited. |

No one seems to think that Serbia & Montenegro stands a chance in the group of death.
But I beg to differ.
They had a fantastic qualifying run and dont be surprised if we see Holland bowing out to Argentina and S&M or even Ivory Coast. It always happens, the best teams find the most trouble with those teams that have nothing to lose (ie: Korea)
I'm tempted to rank Holland in the 3rd to 4th in that group, but of course historically Holland always puts up a good team. |

Portugal to semi's then from there who knows.
adidas has an awesome excel spreadsheet where you can put in the score each game and it tallies everything up. |

| Poland is ed. Our coach picked a bunch of young players instead of our KEY players who are in their prime. I'm not putting much faith into the polish squad as I'm predicting a repeat of 2002. Hope i'm wrong... |
