Yah - the ref was sick... disturbing to think he could actually have called that offside in a professional match!
This was my first TFC game - we had golden seats - I was staring down the midfield line - 3 rows back. I have to admit - I am a diehard EPL fan, and was skeptical of the quality of football expected from the MLS - but I loved it. Maybe the weather and 4 quality goals had something to do with it - but I'm hooked now...
God - I can't imagine what it will be like when a player like Beckham steps onto that pitch - sureal to say the least. Angel is absolutley dominating right now...
Anyways - can't w8 for my next visit to BMO - good times for sure. |

Canada gets ed by central american refs... again.
Honestly, do these guys read the rules? Ball hitting the defending player and going towards attacking player is NOT offside.
Another reason why I'm an advocate of video replay system in football
I don't think Canada played particularly well, with midfield that's been so dangerous getting bogged down by the Yanks and not able to string passes together. That Iain Hume goal was classy though.
Canadian defence sucked, esp. in central defence position and Yank forwards with their pace causing all sorts of havoc. Gotta work on that back 4.
Also needs a strong striker up front too. |

I think this ref was the same one as the infamous Canada vs Honduras WC qualifier couple of yrs ago.
Stalteri looked like he was about to kill the refs lol. |

I'm not a huge soccer (football) fan, but I try to watch as much as I can.
But I agree with you. The Canadians did not deserve to win as the US did outplay them offensively and defensively.
But it is very frustrating to see how poor officiating destroy our hopes!
I'm sure the refs would prefer to have Mexico win the cup...so wouldn't they prefer they play the weaker Canadian team :P lol |

i thought it was against Costa Rica?
but yeah bloody shame bout 2nite.. tho Onstad did admit we got ourselves into that situation... pretty frustrating nonetheless

Only Cunningham is fit to start with Dichio facing late fitness test... Kinda sucks having so many Canadian players on national teams. |

well NE will be short a few as well so we'll see what happens... Toronto needs payback for their last visit.. it's a different team now so let's hope for a different performance

Well, halftime and Toronto down 2 to nil.
Worst half display in a long time.
Biggest problem is that Toronto was just so casual in the defence. First goal shouldn't have happened. 2nd was just poor choice of markers on a tall striker. Not enough hustle on defence, as result offence suffers.
Goldthwaite has his brilliant moments, but he also suffers from huge lapses. I don't think he'll be first choice leftback if Johnston finds an another leftback.
Cunningham misses 2 more chances. He needs like, 5 good chances to score one. Does everything that a small striker needs to do well, except finish. Blah.
I don't think Dichio is fully fit as he seems to move not very well, and he's not a very agile striker to begin with.
Toronto had few plays that opened up New England defence, but Toronto is not using O'Brien and Welsh. Actually, O'Brien is having a terrible game. Welsh is trying to get something going, but he's not getting enough service and support runs from other Toronto players to actually create something.
Ah well. Let's see 2nd half |
