wonder if authorities are coming down on scalpers selling them over face in light of all the recent scandal with MLSE.. ?

They're never going to stop it happening with Craisglist, Kijiji and eBay but yes, I do think they will be monitoring those that see tickets as a business opportunity.... |

PRESS RELEASE
Toronto FC announced the signing of midfielder Rohan Ricketts after the Englishman was freed from his contractual obligations at Barnsley of the English Championship. As per team and league regulations no details of the contract were released.
“He’s come in here and impressed the coaches, and by getting him we’ve instantly added more quality depth for our team,” said manager Mo Johnston. “He possesses a great ability to get by players, and will be another exciting player for our fans to watch.”
Ricketts, 25, has made stops at a number of big name English clubs including Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton before signing with Barnsley in July of 2007.
The midfielder started his career at Arsenal, winning the FA Youth Cup with the team in both 2000 and 2001. He also made one appearance with the Gunners in the League Cup against Manchester United. When Ricketts made the move from Arsenal to Tottenham in 2002, he became just the fourth player to make the switch to the cross-London rivals at White Hart Lane.
Ricketts will be available for selection against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday April 13th, pending the completion of his International Transfer Certificate
In a separate move Friday Toronto FC also announced that they have waived forward Collin Samuel due to personal matters.
“We are sad to see Sammy go,” said Johnston. “Obviously everyone knows what he brought to the team. We wish him nothing but the best of luck in his future career, and we thank him for contributing to Toronto FC.”
Samuel, 26, joined Toronto FC June 25, 2007 after playing out his contract with Scottish Premier League team Dundee United. He started all 19 games he played in, registering 1600 minutes, scoring three goals. |
Exciting news!
With Ricketts signed, Carver will most likely go with 4-2-3-1 formation with Robert on left, Guevara mid and Ricketts on right and Edu, Robinson playing defensive midfielder role.
Should be a lot of firepower coming from midfield now, with Guevara has a good record of scoring goals from the midfield in MLS.
James is coming back, so hopefully the defence stabilizes.
I don't think we can call Mo Johnston a genius quite yet, but if these new signings work well together, Toronto should at least make it to the playoffs for sure |

yeah it's terrible, there are numerous listings for that game at $1 only to be renegotiated upon enquiry ..
and it was next to impossible getting advance tickets for the game on Ticketbastard this morning as well with scalpers likely using advanced webbots to circumvent the Re-Captcha measures online..

Adam and I have a theory.... After the MLSE scandal and the fact that Toronto hasn't had a winning team for years, this is primetime for footy frenzy.
Mo has openly said he has a limitless pocketbook this season, that seems to be the case with these signings - the first Canadian football team wins in it's second season? That's enough for the beautiful game to become cemented forever - MLSE will be laughing all the way to the bank! |

The other theory is that BMO field sells out every game... so why invest more than necessary?
The wages are being paid by the league, not the team (with exception of DP). Hence why Mo is able to make all these signings, because it's not costing MLSE money.
I really hope that Mo signs a DP striker (or center defender) at the end of European season. From now until then gives enough time to figure out how the team is working out and where the best position for DP is.
Mo supposedly has the okay from MLSE to go after a DP, but then again, this is MLSE we're talking about.
PS: Stupid Toronto media, get behind TFC already! How the heck do you think that all these immigrant based Toronto pop don't care about football, but rather hear about hockey all the time? |
