holy crap it was loud yesterday, esp south end.
TFC massive chant between south east corner and across the stadium to north west corner. that was awesome
Next wed is versus Montreal Limp Act.

I usually stick away from ref bashing as it is quite common to see bad officiating with the way the game has evolved into play being 100X too quick for any human to possibly call every decision the right way, but I will make an exception due to the last 5 or so minutes of tonights game being downright horrid. It all started when Vitti had the ball around half way and got completely clobbered from behind. How this wasn't a yellow card is beyond me, but predictably, not even a foul. About 90 seconds after that, how you can call that a PK is also way beyond me. Sure, the fingers are technically a part of the rule book that indicates a 'handball'. To see the definition properly, it has to be (in a nutshell) hand to ball, in which case it was not. Instead, it was a clear attempt to get his whole arm completely out of the way. I normally wouldn't bitch about this, halfway down the field it could have very well looked like palm to ball as opposed to ball to fingertip (lol), but the ref was at the edge of the box, meters from the play. Horrible.
To make matter worse, Dwayne De Rosario gets Bruce Lee super kicked for attempting to clear a free ball. On top, he gets shirt tugged and pushed... somehow, I would like to get some logic in this, he also recieves a yellow card for protesting no action taken. John Carver must be having a really good laugh watching this game on Satelite with a cold one back in Scotland thinking how lucky he is not to have been charged for attempted for killing that official.
Anyways, 10/10 performance from TFC. Was a hot and sticky night, no fault on the second half goals as the team was barely clinging on for air. On top of that, it seems like the attack is really starting to gel and De Rosario is showing he is the missing piece to this team with every minute. That second goal was pure class, you'll be hard pressed to find a gk that could have stopped that one. If only the class De Rosario showed on the ball was showed from the man with the wistle, TFC would have walked away with a deserved 3 points. |

To be fair to Toledo, MLS refs have been pretty consistent calling any handballs in the box as penalty.
Wynne really should have kept his hands down. Your arms flailing like that, the ref will call it as a penalty. He's only got a split second to decide.

Yeah, those were terrible calls. Toledo has something against TFC. I hate that wanker| quote: |

deffo not a 10/10 performance. first half was just dreadful
2nd goal was just terrible defending.
Good heart from the boys for coming back from behind, esp away at DC but this draw felt like a loss of 2 pts than getting a point on the road. |

I agree with everything here but at the same time, the rules are the rules and there was no way that was hand to ball. It's one of the most complicated rules yes, but it's a shame that MLS is so behind in understanding it (then again, Pique had the clearest handball of the year not called on wednesday, so maybe the world has just gone mad). Sure, he must be more disciplined, but that is not a worthy call.
About the team effort, you can critisize them all you want on the second goal as it was sloppy defending to an extent. On the other hand, there seemed to be an extremely high humidity factor and you could see the players just wanted to hang on for dear life. It's easy to talk here, it's another when your body has no liquid's in them after 10 mins with 35 more to go. You got to also keep in mind that RFK stadium is one of the hardest stadiums to win at be it vs. DC United or the US National Squad. I think for the better part of the game, TFC was the superior team and like you said, def feels like a (sour) loss of 2 points. |
