thanks, I actually checked a few firm's boards and most of the holders are looking for trades. Also forgot to mention that a lot of them are being scalped.. never really understood how/why this isn't enforced, I'm guessing it's just futile for local authorities..
anyways, guess I'll have a better chance scoring oil or wheat on the commodities market :wtf:

I've noticed this too .. the Toronfo FC style seems to be more on the English/Scottish model whereas a lot of the US clubs seem to go with the Latin slant .. my guess is due to demographics esp. with the heavy Latino populations down south and the mild fact that Canada is a Commonwealth country.

I witnessed Toronto take down Houston last season in pouring rain and the atmosphere was amazing! Don't expect even half that crowd to turn out in many parts of the US with that kinda weather!

they actually stop serving beer about 20 mins before full time last I recall .. doesn't stop most of the supporters from hording it and/or heading to a pub after the game though. Police/security presence was always being made.

I don't think that's it at all.
More due to the fact that Mo has contacts in UK, and he used that to bring over few players.
Then he gets Carver and Carver has contacts.
If our first coach is from SA or Latin America, I'd bet TFC would have more Latin flavour too. |

i should have been more clear, I think it was MLSE's intent from the get go to obtain a GM/Coach with a heavy English/Scottish soccer background to set the tone and essentially create that ripple effect in establishing the team's current style. The various namesakes of chosen firms (perhaps with the exception of U-Sector and TribalRhythm) as well as Nigel Reed doing your play by play probably helps a little too in getting that brand 'feel'.

Yesterday I don't think I have seen the TFC play better ever.
They owned the field all day, loved every second.
That is what I call soccer and the reffing was pretty spot on.
Guevara is the man.
So excited about the rest of the season. |

Asif Rashid, 31, a season ticket holder, said he was grateful for the bus.
“We were walking toward the field. Normally we take the subway, then grab the streetcar. I’m so annoyed at the TTC,” he said. “We saw this bus full of fans. They made the day brighter.”
Brett Kane, 25, who described himself as a “superfan” and volunteer working on behalf of the team, said TFC asked him to help organize the bus tour and to run into each pub along the route to gather up fans needing a lift.
The stops included: Jack Astors. Elephant & Castle. The Wheat Sheaf. Foggy Dew.
“(The team) knew there’s a lot of people who take public transit to go to the game. TFC wanted to make sure they could go,” said Kane, who was wearing a Danny Dichio jersey.
Then, cued by a raucous fan sitting at the front of upper deck, the fans start singing “When the reds go marching in” as people shopping and walking in and out of cafés on King St. W. stopped to watch.
Retirees John Hampton and Tony Hull, who went to the same university in England 40 years ago, were giddy.
“We happened to be sitting in the pub. Someone said ‘Free bus.’ Fabulous!” said Hampton, bedecked in a red hat, scarf and jersey. “What happened (Friday) night was disgusting. Originally the (TTC workers) were going to give 48-hours notice. They gave no notice.”
As the bus approached the next pub, fans stood up while keeping their heads low to avoid the streetcar wires, and started shouting, “Free bus!”
Others started singing “Oh, Danny Dichio -”
“He scored the (club’s) first goal at home in the 24th minute,” Hampton explained. “We can make a song for anything.”
Then the crowd started chanting, “This is our bus! This is our bus!”

'Chosen firms' as in supporters group? I know Red Patch Boys is a nod to Canadian Special Service Brigade in WW2 and it's about as Canadian as it gets...
Nigel Reed is there because CBC happens to get English broadcasters for their footie games. I'm not sure if Reed did the WC commentaries for CBC but it was two blokes from England.
I'm not sure if it's intent of MLSE to get a team with English flavour, but perhaps more of MoJo was pretty much the best guy available out there at the time... |

It's awesome when other teams can't string together enough passes to create something. Lopez had a pretty ty game. So much for DP signing lol
Guevara man of the match for sure. His freekick goal is about classy as it gets and no keeper in the world would have saved that one.
Good to see Sutton still in form to make that one crucial save.
Total team effort and the scary thing is, this team is only going to get better!

Well well well well well. Three in a row and I, for one couldn't be happier.
Guevara is going to shine even more as the season goes on, he is passionate without ego, skillfull without greed, professional without fear.
We did play brilliantly as a whole,especially in the first half but I can see room for improvement when we're making an attack - there is just one too many passes taking place. I am not sure if it is then losing their bottle or we're not practised enough as a team to read what the other players are thinking - either way, it's nothing that a bit more pitch time won't iron out.
Sutton. When we lost him to his concussion last year, I saw the team deflate. I don't think the press realized the magnitude of his presence but it was glaringly obvious on Sat. He is the team's mentor and backbone and I, for one, am overjoyed that he is back.
I must admit though, when that greasy KC ****** body checked him, I almost ran on the pitch to fight him. I feel very protective of Sutton as I believe he is our David Seaman.
VERY excited for thursday :) |

Next one against Red Bulls is almost like a derby.
There was an altercation between Red Bulls and TFC players last season before the game began in the tunnel and a lot of players are taking it personally to stick it into the Red Bulls.
PS: You know you're a TFC when you dream that you're on an away game trip, complete with chants. |
