Let's hope that everyone gets it in sync next time. Sound so terrible last Sat when watching on TV ;)

Next opponent, Kansas City.
Barely averages 10,000 fans per game, playing in a baseball field, but for some reason, they are playing very good football lately.

I dunno these chicks are KC cheerleaders, but check out some of the man-women here. Kansas City has now been declared a NO GO zone for picking up girls.

I forgot to ask how it sounded on T.V. because it sounded in the stadium too. So many people in my section either opted not to sing or didn't know the words while others tried but butchered the melody.

It was sad. (yes this is the first time I've made it for the Canadian National anthem so if this is old news sorry)

The crowd was about 2-3 seconds ahead of the loudspeakers. Sounded kinda bad.

any non-season ticket holders have any luck finding tix for future games? The remainder of the season is virtually sold out (Ticketbastard only has single seats left and that's even if u manage to get thru the inquiry page). I spent over 3 hrs online getting 2 tix to the home opener. Tix on Stubhub.com are selling for almost double face value.

wonder if MLSE's insatiable appetite for $$$ has had them consider expanding BMO field yet.. there's already waiting lists for future season tickets for next year and the following!!

TFC signs Tebily
Posted by Joe Ross on April 24, 2008

PRESS RELEASE

Toronto FC announced the signing of free agent defender Olivier Tebily. As per team and league rules no details were released.

“We’re adding another experienced player to the squad,” said head coach John Carver. “He’s had a good career especially at Celtic and Birmingham; he’ll definitely improve the team with his versatility as he can play either in the centre or on the right in the back.”

Tebily, 32, began his career in France in Ligue 2 with Niort where he spent five seasons before joining Chateauroux (1998-99) and Sheffield United (1999) for brief stints. The Ivorian then moved from Sheffield to Scottish giants Celtic in June of 1999. A regular starting spot in the Celtic squad helped him internationally as he was named to the Ivory Coast national team and a member of the 2000 African Cup of Nations team. With Celtic he received a Scottish Premier League winners’ medal in 2001, and that same year was honoured as a nominee for African Footballer of the Year, losing out to El Hadji Diouf of Lens.

In March of 2002, Tebily made the move to Birmingham City, who at that time was a member of the League Championship, for a fee of 700,000 pounds. He remained with Birmingham until the end of his contract in January of 2008, spending nearly six years with the club.

Nicknamed the 'Bombscare' by Birmingham fans, as you never know whether he'd make an awesome defensive play, or make right bollocks of it and cost a goal.

Can play defensive midfielder or a defender, but scouting report says he's better as a defensive midfielder than a defender.

Strong as an ox, but suffers from occassional lapse of concentration.

But considering how ty most MLS defenders are, Tebily should do well in MLS, considering his resume and experience

Read this in the paper this morning. Very exciting. Mo has realized that with the authentic feel of the games from the stands, he can bring in players from the English leagues - I think the reason the trans-atlantic transfers were minimal previously was because players didn't enjoy playing. The game is slower and the fans were straight from a morgue.... not in our house they're not :)

I think it's more due to Becks signing (and to lesser degree, Blanco and Angel) that gave MLS legitimacy in the eyes of the football world.
This led Mo to attract players like Dichio (who originally was suppose to play for Chicago but due to work permit came to Toronto instead) and Robinson who made up the core of TFC from early season 1.

This led to Carver being able to signed and his connections opened up more doors, including signing of Robert. A new assistant coach in Chris Cummings who used to head youth academy at Luton and Watford is being considered right now too, so TFC youth academy might one day produce top quality footballers years down the road.

Signing names like Robert, Ricketts, will make Toronto even more attractive to European footballers and with end of European season in June, there will be more players available for signing. (Rumour says possible DP striker...)
I can't remember where, but in England, Toronto FC is the most recognized MLS team... Not Beck's LA Galaxy

Yes, Toronto has unparalleled atmosphere, but it's really few things that add up to make Toronto an attractive place to play football. (though DC United is pretty close, from all the reports)

Though I find it pretty damn cool that TFC essentially ends up playing an English style of football.

Then again, DC United plays South American football with all their internationals from South America.

I can't believe the first TFC game i'm going to see will be in the rain :(
