| its not that expensive, i remember paying 90$ for average seats back in 2001 when the canadian dollar sucked to see a boring 0-0 game between AS Roma and Real Madrid in the giants stadium, about 3-4 times the size of Toronto's |

People would be ticked off if TFC didn't play any of the major Euro teams at all. Can't satisfy everyone I guess |
maybe not.. but this sure is a joke lol

| I filled out the ballot and when I saw danny dichio, chad barret and pablo vitti on the ballot for strikers I just burst out laughing. How the hell can I even vote for those sorry s. MLSE...why must they ruin every sports team in Toronto. |

| Danny is great and all...legend for the team I guess. But he isn't the most spectacular player by any means. 2 goals in 12 games isn't good enough. He's just a decoy for Guevara's FK's to curl in the net. |

Yohan, shut it. At $150 a seat for the south end, it's ing ridiculous and nothing short of a money grab. s with the schedule for the boys and pisses the fans off and for what? $$$ that's what. |

Ya i agree its a money grab completely, showing once again a fundamental priority flaw with MLSE...
I don't support the notion that we should be entitled to play top notch international competition simply by existing, we should EARN the right to play against these teams on the merits of achievement i.e through winning the Canadian championship and qualifying for Concacaf champions league, and eventually Fifa world club championships. Anything short of that is meaningless.
However, its not to much the idea of friendly's that i don't agree with, every professional football organization on the planet takes advantage of them to pad their wallets, provide an opportunity for inexperienced players to earn quality playing time against strong opposition, and draw people to a match that normally wouldn't attend if it were simply TFC vs New England.
The problem is MLSE once again loosing the plot. Spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to implement real grass at BMO field for the Madrid match as their players, rightfully so, refuse to play on plastic. Then removing the grass after and not offering our players the same respect. I know I know they're just tenants blah blah blah, bull, build the city an all round recreation centre somewhere in the city and put in real grass, for an organization that's been raking it in for decades their reluctance to spend and improve quality is disgusting. Moving the Red Bulls match up to accommodate the Madrid friendly, even though thousands of supporters will be inconvenienced with a change from the original schedule. Charging supporters $100+ to sit in the ing southend for friendly, in the middle of our season when we need to be focusing on pushing for a playoff spot, not playing meaningless matches against a team that realistically could thrash us 14-0 if they wanted to. Where is the designated player we've been promised for two years? Where is the centre back we're desperate for to solidify our defense? Since TFC's inception, why have we been unable to find a consistent striker? Why do we continue to play on a plastic pitch when our poster player (DeRo) has even called it complete rubbish and expressed how its killing our game. So many questions with so few answers. |

Exactly. Meaningless, it will definitely be embarrassing and totally not the spirit of football. |

Most target man strikers don't score a lot of goals

few points to consider
-Real has a huge apperance fee. probably a million bucks or so
-temporary grass cost about 250000 (or so I've heard)
-BMO only seats 20000
that already puts the cost pretty damn high to host this friendly
I'd rather have NO friendlies at all, but for some reason I don't expect MLSE to host a friendly at cost
It is a money grab. But there are other things I'm worried and piss off about TFC/MLSE than this friendly |
