your people will learn to get over it
because when you can't do about something, ranting about it isn't going to change the fact
political boundaries change all the time. in another hundred years, who knows. people will accept kosovo as country, as there are loads of countries that were created ever since end of ww1
ps; emotions cloud judgement. nationalism is good and all that, but rarely people making decisions based upon nationalism make sound ones |
They have no choice but to get over it Yohan!!! No !
Of course I am going to rant about it...it's awful......
I obviously won't get anywhere with it but I'm just expressing my opinion......... |

Definetly a heated debate.
Kosovo is not the only place that this happens. But Let the people voice their beliefs and opinions. No need to bash them. I'm sure if you had family there, or if you were from there you would feel the same way (although I can't speak for everyone, every person is different) |

the UN security council, as far as i know, has yet to recognize Kosovo as a country. I think any motions made toward it have been put down.
however, what i think is the issue is the way the issue has been treated in the media and politically.
yes, Kosovo has been recognized by several countries, however, that is illegally infringing on Serbia's sovereignty.
Marches of celebration do nothing more than enforce a muted acknowledgement, one fully outside of European and internaitonal rules.
Consequence? Kosovo will probably gain independence mainly because of the massive push that has already been made without the proper legal proceedings to go through.
From the looks of it, Serbia's NOT willing to go down without a fight, and Russia is most likely going to do everything in its power to 'legally' prevent this.
It's a big -up, but ignoring it and saying "who cares" i think is at the very least insulting. |

I am very sympathetic to the Serbian cause but at the same time auto-determination is very important in my opinion. Its very hard to ignore that 90% of Kosovars NOT WANTING TO BE IN YOUR COUNTRY!! What do you do about these people? You kill them all? brain wash? deport?
I think Serbs should look at the positive of this (leaving behind a territory which is a drag in all aspects) and move forward embrassing the EU.
Kosovo if not today, would have been an issue in the future. The best (for this issue and all other separatist movments) is to determine a solution in which both can go on co-existing peacfully as neighbours than starting wars where everyone looses.
p.s. if you even remotely knew anything about the Quebec separatist movement you would not even try and mix these two issues. |

| I feel bad for the Serbs since Kosovo bares so much historical significance to them. Definitely a huge hit to loose something like that. But after what was done to the Albanians at the hands of people like Milosevic, can't say I'm surprised it came to this. |
