Its really confusing I know.
At first, they were called the Canadien, then they became French Canadian to distinguish themselves from the English speaking who used the same Canadian adjective. And now its Québecois to distinguish ourselves from the other french speakers in the rest of canada (about 1 million scattered).
French Canadian at the time of Riel, is well used, Québecois wasn't even on the map as term back then.
Now Québecois use French Canadian to describe those not living in Québec, in a weird fashion, most of them being federalist, anti-quebec waiting to be assimilated. |
I get what your saying, but to describe each group and what their interests are, just the term French Canadian and English Canadian isn't enough to clearly define each subgroup.
Heck, even the Confederation wasn't about English Canada and French Canada, but rather, it was about what each region wanted.
History is so confusing like that :)
Anyways, back to Kosovo... |

Scrutinizing peoples who choose to kill each other in the most horrendous ways is VERY appropriate.
YES - I am going to scrutinize the type of behavior that has gone on in the region for the last who-knows-how-many years. It is absolutely unacceptable! |
I can accept that..and PLEASE do.
I have NO PROBLEM whatsoever with you scrutinizing terrible things that my people, albeit the worst of my ppl, have done.
Thats us suffering the consequences of the in losers who are evil and give our whole nation a bad name.
Take responsibility for your actions, no matter how ed up they are.
Thats what mature, civilized adults do.
I will NEVER defend the horrible things some of my countrymen have done.
There is never a legitimate or valid excuse to murder anyone or obv anything worse.

Maybe if more Balkans scrutinized themselves they'd put an end to the senseless brutality and accomplish their full potential. |
THIS is the crux of the problem. (unrelated to Kosovo)
I know that this is the EXACT problem.
Instead of looking at ourselves and what we've done wrong (Croats, Serbs, Bosnians, Albanians, or anyone else in the region)
we keep focusing on what "they" have done to us.
Again, take responsibility, admit ur mistakes, and how can we FIX the problem.
Loof ing FORWARD and how things CAN be done...
zokkissima: we DO agree on a lot of topics on TA.
I've NEVER denied any of our past. I'm the forst to point the finger at our terrible mistakes of WWII.
I've never justified anything. But we ALL gotta do that.
The funny thing is, Croatia has NOTHING to do with Kosovo situation...nothing.
Anita is my friend and i love 'er, but there was no reason to mention Croatia.
This is not our problem nor are we involved and it should stay that way.
And none of our comparing Croatia and Serbia will obv do any good.
Xavier : same with me bro, the Serbs i know i LOVE and vice-versa.
man when we met its like we WERE brothers. Thats what its all about.
Both our proud nations will never give in to each other, so ppl like us agree to disagree and just not discuss it.
Why? We focus on the POSITIVES and what we DO have in common, not the opposite...which unfortunately, not all of our countrymen do as well |

yeah. you don't know.
so uhm. maybe read a little and don't just talk based upon your prejudice and bias?
cuz yeah. you're really adding nothing to the thread, and we already have enough speculations and conspiracy theories in this thread as it is. |
obivously,, theres lots of croats/serbs on here! these people get offended very easily ... they are also stubborn!
i would describe the ppl as crazy,, like my grandfather told me a age old story...
during the first world war and even before that,, apposing forces invading many small townes and villages, , they would rape and kill villagers then move on to the next town. The villages had enough and decided to start killing army officials.. later the army would come back and burn down the entire village.. this would continue to go on.. later when the army came back to rape and kill, the villagers ending up killing a couple leutenant's and then the army would strike back and kill every single villager.. they would move on and the next village was like, screw killing captains and lieutenants, were going after the general's .. so after killing the generals the army would continue to kill and rape villages all over.. this would happen over and over..
and FINALLY the invading armies said ENOUGH... we don't have any generals or major's left.. we can't invade your country anymore.. |

Anyone can just look at the violence and form a biased opinion on that. That doesn't neccessarily make it an opinion with any real weight. |
Bull. People base their opinion on ALL available inputs: violence, history, people like you representing an area when you migrate, achievements - EVERYTHING. Filtering is easy from an academic perspective but not so much in practical application.
Why do you seem to keep going around in circles - dismissing anybody that doesn't give you a reach around? You come across as if only your opinion has weight so nobody else should even try to form one or comment one way or another.
Give me a break!
One of the few rational people in this thread has been Vrk. At least he seems to grasp the idea that unless people stand up, demand more, have enough and live "NEVER AGAIN - NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCE" nothing is going to improve.
Unfortunately - your "passion" (dismissal? denial? excuses?) does nothing to progress the situation and simply creates fodder and fuel for a situation, perception and region that needs anything but.
But then again - my opinion doesn't have any real weight, right? |

I do agree. |
