what exactly were the racial comments?

I have a question.
When the Former Yugoslav Republic was separated into the different countries, why did Kosovo not get separated back at that time? It was all Albanians at that time also. As well as, Vojvodina. Who decided at that time that Kosovo would be part of Serbia?
Kosovo and Vojvodina were never republics of SFRJ like Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, BiH, Macedonia, Montenegro.
Kosovo and Vojvodina are just provinces of Serbia.

Montenegrans are the most similar to Serbs..i dunno the exact history, but those 2 republics have always been literal brothers.
The rest all have similarities in terms of how the ppl are, but there are MAJOR differences as well.
Croatians and Slovenes are predominantly Catholic, Macedonia, Serbia, and Montenegro and predominantly Orthodox.
BiH is the wild card as its by far the most diverse.
Croatian Catholics, Orthodox Serbs, and Muslim Bosnians.
The Dayton Accord of 1995, which effectively ended the Bosnian war, unified Bosnia-Hercegovina (BiH) into one country, but separated it into 2 distinct different regions...
51% of the territory is Serbian (red on the graph).
The Croatians and Muslims unified and share the other 49% (blue on graph).
Imho, BiH is a ticking timebomb and one day there will be some kind of conflict there.
Serbs say it was once theirs and Croatians say the same.
Islam was introduced by the Ottomans and has complicated the area ten-fold.
I'm not picking at anyone here, so Srbi please, dont take this persoanlly as i'm being as diplomatic as possible.
Margs, Slovenia and Croatia were the first to break away as they never wanted to be a part of Yugoslavia in the first place.
Although the primary differences are religious, it is by no means the only difference.
A little more historical Margs, and a way to get an idea of cultural differences, is the fact Slovenia and Croatia
were an integral part of the Austro-Hungarian empire and even architecturally look a LOT like Budapest and Vienna.
The others are much more eastern-like in these same areas because of their close ties to the Byzantines.
Writing : Slovenia and Croatia use Roman , Serbia, MN, and Macedonia cyrillic.
These generally are major differences and i havent even touched the tip of the iceberg...
And as said earlier, Kosovo and Vojvodina have never had the status of these aforementioned nations and were always provinces of Serbia.

I think that from what I know, the reason why Slovenia (the first republic to separate) split from Yugoslavia was that they were the most economically prosperous among the six republics (and still are, as can be seen), and they actually helped to pull up the economic situation of the whole of former YU, so they decided it would be better if they managed their affairs of their own and reap the results of their good economic situation only on their own.
But correct me if I'm wrong.

In other words, what I forgot to add was maybe that their primary reason for separation wasn't so much nationalistically-based, but more for financial and economic reasons. :conf: (but i'm not sure, as I said)

I've stayed from these kinds of comments coz i dont want to coz any trouble.....
I'm happy for ANY nation or people that find independence and have their OWN freedom.
***This hinges on how CIVILIZED they are***
So in this sense, I'm happy for the people of Kosovo who have a chance to run their own country THEIR way.
As a Croatian and one of the proudest ppl in the world of my country and my ppl AND as someone who's "supposed to" not like Serbs or Serbia,
(not the case, i appreciate, respect, and accept everyone on this planet)
i cant believe this is happening.
Dood, it really has been part of Serbia for centuries.
I would NEVER be able to be all ho-hum if the same was trying to be done with a piece of Croatia.
And i'm the liberal, happy-go-lucky, loves life, kind of a modern hippy.
Let alone how the maniacs and ultra-nationalists would react.
The Serbs' anger is expected and to a large extent justified.
The Canadian in me taught me to accept everybody and everyone.
am i glad that i'm blessed enuff to love everybody.
And am i thankful that i was born in Canada to see and learn these things everyday.

No I haven't. I rented Hostel 1, but I've only seen about one hour of it and then I turned it off. I personally can't stand most horror and thriller movies. And I wondered, after I turned it off, how could I have managed to watch one hour of such BS? LoL... :stongue:

no your right.
Slovenia produced 1/4 of the ENTIRE Yugoslav GDP. And again using Slovenia as an example the unemployment rate was never more than 5%, and then you look at a place like Kosovo where the unemployment was %50, obviously the polarity between the North and the South was just too much to (you essentially had a few people carrying everyone else in that country) ask for in the way of wanting that whole region to stay together. I can't see how anyone could even fathom to think that they should stay together under those particular sets of circumstances. And then on top of that were the other issues of freedom vs communism vs democracy vs whatever etc ...
