It wasn't just that comment in its particularity that pissed me off. It's that whole condescending judgmental mindframe that I find disgusting and that I think is a huge problem in the discussion of such a topic. It's like a minimal form of cultural hegemony. You can't approach a topic like this and try to impose your opinions as if all that is constant here is mutually constant over there. That's not how it works. Furthermore, doing so ARROGANTLY is UN.ING.ACCEPTABLE and disrespectful. You can't call yourself an advocate of global coherence and peace with such an attitude. |

And half of the native (I mean by born here) Canadians I speak to do not hold back when it comes to the outright anger at the influx of immigrants into this country. As much assimilation as you seem to see, I see just as much resentment between differing groups. And lets face facts, that the life you live here is in no way indicative of life nor trends on the global scale.
I don't know how else I can say this, as Xavier allready pointed out, but whatever you know, and whatever your principles are derived from and based on your experiences here, in other places in the world it is just different, and just because you happen to live in a nation with relatively little internal strife, it does not mean that your way is in fact the correct way... |

Why would you even assume that when I say hole I mean how the country looks? Yes it's beautiful, it always has been and it always will be. What I'm talking about is the crowds of younger generations going elsewhere because there is no future for them there.
As for Sarajevo, we talked with a family member just last week, and she filled us in as to the latest goings on there. How do car bombs sound? Or how about an alarming rate of suicides? How about people doing attrocious things to young kids? How about the even further segregation of muslims and serbs? How about not being able to buy the most simplest of things (oil costing 4 euro when the average salary weekly is something like 12-15 euro).

Sorry to say - but whomever you speak to about this are losers. They are probably 1st or 2nd generation immigrants at that (hypocrites bringing slag here from their "fatherland").
