Are you suggesting that they don't hate Israel for this?

Excerpts

The United States thwarted an effort by Libya on Saturday to persuade the United Nations Security Council to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza after Israel launched a ground invasion, diplomats said.
...
Libya, the only Arab member of the council, had circulated a draft statement expressing “serious concern at the escalation of the situation in Gaza, in particular, after the launching of the Israeli ground offensive” and urged all parties “to observe an immediate ceasefire.”

But diplomats said the United States refused to back the Libyan-drafted text and killed the initiative, since council statements must be passed unanimously. Later the United States refused to back a watered-down call for a truce, the diplomats said.

The United States, one of five permanent Security Council members, insists that any statement or resolution state that the Palestinian militant group Hamas is a terrorist organization that seized power in Gaza from the legitimate Palestinian Authority.

:)

What's the difference between the two ?

Can I not have an opinion on truth for ME that's based on an emotional attachment?

This is why emotional, religious and political issues all tied into one mess is tricky.

I'd would say both sides are in the wrong as well.

I just have one question: How is electing an organization that is for the entire destruction of an entire nation instead of trying for some sort of peace a good thing that helps your cause??

I do however understand how the Palestinians feel about the restrictions placed on them by the Israeli's but can you blame Israel for doing this considering they're constantly under threat?

Meh, head hurts, going to bed. :)

It's a war, not a walk in the park.

~Tips hat to Malek~

For those who want to nitpick who broke the ceasefire, I can tell you that I was there in June, when there was yet countless 'ceasefires' in 1 week alone, and let me tell you, Hamas broke it day after day after day, we heard the rockets drop from my grandfather's house. And did Israel go in there and do anything then? And I can guarantee you that rockets had been fired long before June as well, as we all know, this is not something that just erupted in the past week or 2.

Anas, if you know there's a differentiation between Hamas and the Palenstinian people, then why aren't you focusing on that a bit more? Why aren't you voicing your outrage for Hamas actions/ ownership in this? We dont see you voicing any opinion about Hamas at all. As someone stated, you sidestep it repeatedly. Same goes for Navid. Not once have either of you uttered the call for peace, or stated 'both sides are wrong', as the pro-Israeli's here can do. Come on dude, that speaks volumes.... And are you aware of the fact that Palestinian refugees in other Arab countries are treated like by their so-called 'brothers', and live in far worse conditions than Gaza? Where's your outrage towards those countries? Lets face it, everyone has their own agenda.

I hope all this nonsense ends soon, for everyones sake. peace in the middle east. goodnight.

It's sickening to see many people label the rockets which Hamas has launched into southern Israel as a justification of the IDF's invasion. Why wouldn't Hamas fire rockets into Israel after the following factors?

- 60 years of illegal occupation and oppression... forcefully taking away land from Palestinians (with the cost of countless deaths, destroyed homes, and millions of displaced Palestinian refugees) in order to allow Jewish immigrants to live comfortably. Yes the Jews suffered in the Holocaust, but Palestinians should not suffer as a consequence.
- Limited electricity which progressed into no electricity.
- Extremely limited food supplies.
- Limited medicine.
- Horrible medical care.. overcrowded hospitals have been running on emergency generators, which could fail to operate at any moment, meaning those on life support or in intensive care could die at any moment. Any new victims of the massacre can't even be admitted into medical care.
- A crippled economy, in which imports and exports are controlled and limited under Israeli authority.
- 1.5 million ing people in 360km squared!!! Think of the standard of living Gazans live in on a day to day basis. A huge amount of Gazans have never left this small strip of land, and many will never leave it.

Do these seem like living conditions that wouldn't piss you off just a little bit? Imagine living like this and think of how angry it would make you. This is the trap Israelis have Palestinians in. They feed off of our anger and retaliation, and use our defense as an excuse for further expansion of the Zionist sate.

Are Israeli lives more valuable than Palestinian lives? 500+ Palestinian deaths can be justified with 4 Israeli deaths?? Come on people!! Can you even compare the Palestinians' suffering to that of the Israelis?

People open up your eyes.. Israel wants to expand their land for more settlements at the cost of Palestinian lives, as they have been doing for the past 60 years.

Take this as an example... why would you never see Palestinians protesting along with the Israelis.. yet there are many Jews who protest along with the Palestinians?

Learn people! Educate yourselves... your local or national media is not the absolute truth. Read books.. talk to those who have been affected by this.. CNN (or any similar media outlet) is not the answer.

Honestly.

Just glancing over the thread I'm amazed at the sheer stupidity--I really don't feel like getting involved in this discussion (and I wont) but I strongly, strongly suggest some of you do your ing homework before you type up random and claim it as impartial statements.

READ Noam Chomsky
try supporting your nonsense with some actual cited evidence; and if you can't find any (and I suspect most of you cannot) then stfu and stop perpetuating this circular debate.

are you serious dude?

By saying that Yohan, I can tell you haven't the slightest clue on who Chomsky is--do a little more than read the first couple of lines on his Wiki Yohan...

You should know better.
He is one of the most renowned political scholars in the world.
