i just joined a gym and was looking for a few basic tips on some stuff.

should i just drink water during it, or would energy drinks be ok?
anything i should do after it, like food wise aswell? |
hmmm...
well i usually like to eat about an hour before i go work out. it's not a good idea to workout right after you eat because you don't want to compete with the digestion of food.
i usually just drink water...but you can do whatever you want to do...energy drinks are good too
afterwards...the important thing is to start getting some food into your system...especially protein sources. that's why lots of people like protein shakes after a workout because it's fast... |

| Before I can answer that need your current height, weight, body type (fat, avg, slim) and your goal/ideal body type |

Here's a post-workout shake I used to make:
16 ice cubes
2 cups milk
1 banana
1 scoop chocolate whey protein
1 tablespoon vanilla
and every now and then I'd a couple tablespoons of peanut butter
Oh man that shake was the bomb |

make your goals specific, like how lean, what weight, what measurements, it makes it easier to know what you need to do to get where your going and when you've got there |

pics help to ;)
uhm lessee here... thats really skinny.
Eat a SMALL meal like a cup full of food thats mostly carbs and some protein. I like a piece of toast with about 3 slices of meat on it.
Drink a glass of water and digest for 45 min.
I usually have a cup of coffee about an hour before as well.
just drink water during the workout and then after drink TONS. Eat a protein bar and go on a run if you want to see how much water gets sucked up by protein haha. You need lots of it. At least a gallon or two a day.
after (within 45 min!!) is a protein bomb like some home made hamburgers, or fish, or a protein drink.
beware though, if you arent working out really hard and then eat tons of protein itll turn to fat. But youll neeed that fat to have more energy to gain weight... its a cycle. Try to get fat and chubby for a month or so then start leaning down and focusing more on protein than carbs...
but carbs are GOOD for energy gives you a better work out...
my 2c. Im a lean fellow myself so gaining mass has always been a challenge and I had to eat fatty, carbed out food to gain weight. |

i'll have to get my full measurements, then i will stick them up and go from there.
dont really how a specific worry about weight, if i lose some or gain some it would matter. i suppose i would just like to look more definied, haha probaly no help at tall with out the measurements! |
