Australia is just too chilled back.. a bit behind the times though. But I love it!!

You stay in Brisbane, that's hardly fair.

Apparently not teaching intelligent design, not having free gun laws and not having an overzealous legal system is behind the times

That is true :) I'm not complaining though.

A bit behind the times in terms of technology mind you..

can't believe that the politicians here are trying to implement an internet filtering system..

Do you mean you can't believe they've taken this long to, or that they're doing it at all?

plenty of countries already have filtering systems. not that im defending it or anything, but people act like australia is the first free nation to try. they're not.

Of course not. We're just the first country to copy absolutely everything from other countries and can't come up with something that's tailored for us, not just some Yank/Pom/whatever hack job of an idea.
Lilith
Yes, but they do stand a chance of coming in as being one of the most ineffectual and waste of taxpayers dollars attempts so far.

i dont think australia really needs an internet filtering system to begin with, not to mention the taxpayers will be funding it.. plus it's a flawed filter, and people will just easily bypass it.

the government is also investing a lot of money in a national high speed broadband network, but with the filter in place, it will effectively slow the internet down which then defeats the purpose of the high speed broadband network.

id rather see investment in public transport, and other things australia lacks in compared to a lot of other developed nations.

apart from melbourne, sydney and brisbane have horrible public transport.

No ? :p

And public transport isn't that bad in Brisbane (though I don't use it much any more).

I would say they gave us Flight Of The Conchords, but they're from New Zealand. Hmm...back to square one.

When I First Saw Some Of Their Videos I Thought They Were From Australia But After Watching The Series I Found Out How Mistaken I Was.
