Yeah, I heard they're pretty bad down there. We mostly get them in the summer, but they're ing hungry when we do see them :/

Luckily they are rare. I believe they originated somewhere north of Canberra in the western part of NSW towards the desert, which is why you see them mostly in that part of the world and between Sydney and Melbourne.
A select few tend to migrate overland towards QLD as summer approaches, but they haven't really figured out why yet. Must be chasing some birds up north.

Yeah, up here they mostly go for the bigger ground birds like brush turkeys or peoples chickens on farms and stuff like that. Last year a couple of them took down an Emu, but that was way out west of here. Made a bit of a mess of it though, poor thing. I'll try and find the pictures, they were put up on one of the Queensland birding sites.

Stupid birds. If they stayed away from the trees, they'd be much safer. Dropbears are generally too slow to catch them on foot beyond 4 or 5 metres.

Yeah, the birds should stay away from trees. Good thinking :p
Like I said, it's only the bigger ground birds. The ones that roost up in trees don't get grabbed, because the dropbears are too heavy to go out on the limbs and get them.

I have changed my mind on Australia once again. It officially does suck now, after watching this royal screw up on live tv announcing the wrong winner of "Australia's Next Top Model", then having to tell the girl she actually didn't win:
