Yanks payroll is not 260 million! It's widely known to be 200 million. Which still makes it astronimical but still...

And A LOT of it is dead weight like huge monstrous salaries for Giambi, Bernie, Posada, Mussina, and way too much for pathetic relievers like Paul Quantrill.

Take that 200 and respend it with today's players and they'd be dominant. Have it loaded into a bunch of guys a shade past their prime and you got what you see, not a championship ballclub, and swept by the last place team for only the third time in their history. Yikes!

Hehe, wrong answers. The team, by the way, is in American League, and they are doing quite well. few games ago they were actually quite close to going in extra innings, but bottom of the ninth, a home run ...

Man they've blown it way before even I thought, despite Pettite looking good last night and Clemens still pitching some gems the Astros are showing their age. Last night put the final nail in the coffin of the silly Berkman vs Pujols comparison, Pujols is on a different planet to Berkman!

the nl east is looking real tight right now ..
atlanta (the top) and philadelphia(the bottom) are seperated by 2 and a half games! wow! .. that's as close of a gap between the top and bottom i have seen in ages .. well the al west was tight a couple of years ago, when texas still had a-rod ..

what a rally by the Angels today, coming from behind and beating the Red Sox 13-6. damn

I still don't understand why Petitte AND Clemens would leave the yankees for Houston. I'm a little tired of hearing the "I want to be with my family" excuse from these guys. Winning World Series is more important dammit!:D Now, they both probably want to come back.

i think Petitte felt a bit slighted after they swore after the season they were going to take care of them and then they went and signed all those other players and made trades and never put an offer on the table until after he already signed the offer sheet and well clemens wanted to be with his friend(how sweet) and i'm sure it took alot of thought when they said they wanted to pay him 18 mil this year

I thought the Yankees offered Petitte more money? (obviously)

He just kept saying how he had won enough and wanted to be home with his kids, bla bla bla bla. If the yankees had either Clemens or Petitte (or had made the unit deal before the deadline), they would have won the WS. Petitte and Clemens will never win anything in Houston now.
