if that was the big factor in decisioning, then clemens would win hands down.
it's going to be close between clemens and carpenter. my heart says carpenter, but i am sure the committee is going to job him, and give clemens his unprecedented (7th ???) cy young award .. he is getting up there as best pitchers with nolan ryan and sandy koufax . |

I agree with you for the most part but a pitcher that lasts longer give his team a better chance at winning because it's less reliant on the bullpen. Carpenter eats more quality innings, Clemens doesn't go as deep in games. ERA can be influenced by defense and the parks that people pitch in (mostly thinking about home games). It surely is still an important stat but not the only one.
Tough call
But yeah Dontrelle should be up there too but still I like the other 3 better... |

To tell you the truth, I really don't want to see Houston Astros winning the wildcard. I hope an NL East team will win that wildcard, but at this pace, NL East teams will drain each other slowly, while Astros feast on the weak central and west :whip: |

Unfortunately you're right, and my Nationals are slowly, yet surely going the way of the buffalo.
Still though I had once incredible summer of passionately following my team in Washington, and for that I thank them. Frank Robinson too for being a hardcore curmedgeon! :p |

but you're only as good as the players behind you though right?:p Nah, I love Clemens...still a little miffed about him leaving the Yanks though. sometimes these professional atheletes need to tell their wives to shut up. |

| I am thinking andruw Jones will be this years version of late 90's Brady Anderson...with this ridiculous power stroke he has developed this year..which will more than likely go away next year |

My annual MLB playoff pool is starting on the day when all playoff spots will be finalized. You can pick your selections to see if you will win. ;) I am planning to do some sort of a prize for whoever wins it, of course I'll participate it in as usual.
Any idea what the prize should be? A copy of a CD (or a cd rip), perhaps (I got many CDs, see my Discogs profile)? Gotta be something to make it interesting ...
I have the pool rules/points system already set up. |
