Smoltz, Glavine, Maddux, etc... only won one world series. You can't just win with starting pitching, that is sort of a wives tale. It definitely helps but isn't the only reason for winning. You still need to score more runs than the other team and I'm afraid Houston's bats will suffer in the crunch in order to take the world series. But that's just my opinion...
I'll let others think Jason Lane and Berkman are offensive forces.
Hard to go wrong with Pettite, Clemens, and Oswalt but Clemens really hasn't been that special in the post-season except for a few outings. Pettite is a big game pitcher, love the guy so I won't say anything there. |

Im watching the St Louis/San Diego game right now but i have to leave for class soon. Ill be in class during the Soxs' game as well but hopefully i'll be back right around the 6th or 7th inning.
My playoff picks are not conducive to who I'm actually rooting for, since I always root for the underdog. I'd like to see the Padres advance, but i don't think it's likely. |

damn. grand slam by Sanders in the 5th sent Peavy back to the dugout.
Cards on top 8-0 right now. |

| Pitching doesn't always beat great hitting....but perhaps Peavy couldn't muster his best stuff for the post-season. Either or it was a shellacking. I'm liking my pick for the Cards sweep even better. |

No doubt, I don't necessarily pick the same teams that I root for. ie: I root for the Padres easily but I don't think they have a shot at the Cards. |

heard about the sox game driving from work :haha:
the sports radio we have here trips me out though, all of a sudden Dan La Betard (the host) started naming random White Sox in their history cause he was noticing random baserunners all the time during todays game, people started calling in with Lamar Hoyt , Ron Karkavoice, Joe Cowley, Ron Kittles, Ivan Caledron references etc...
So I called in right on time to be the last caller
" Dan:this is Eddie iN Miami, name a random white sox player in their history
Me: Rusty Kuntz
Dan starts laughing , (said somethin about Rusty).... ok and last thing name the most famous players in white sox history real quick (cause Dan said the White Sox never really had that many stars).
Me: Bo Jackson and Michael Jordan
Dan:Goodnight folks |
