Here in Brasilia or in Japan?
Here in Brasilia every "block" has a number that makes sense in a Cartesian axis, and the main avenues are also assigned specific codes so you know where you are and where you're heading to.
In Japan, most of the time the person you're visiting will give you directions on how to get to their house from the tube station, for example. |

How does mail arrive on your doorstep? |
Oh, they do have proper addresses, but it's so nonsensical no one but the mail cares about them :p |

It's hard to know where a place is just by knowing its address. It's just a random string of numbers and words no one really understands, as far as I'm told :p
But, now that you guys mention it, in Osaka every important crossing had a name, so I always knew where I was going. I don't remember seeing these signs anywhere else though. I'd just look at the map and count the streets I had to cross :conf: |

I'm talking about Japan.
As for our suburbs here in Brasilia, they work pretty much the same way. Nameless streets, bunch of numbers, and you know exactly where you are most of the time (unless you don't know how the code works in the city you happen to be in, but it's not really hard to learn a new system because they're all alike). |

Oops, sorry, I thought you were talking about Brasilia :p
Still, it seems odd to me. Crazy even! |

Dear Brazil,
Next time don't let Kismet7 come up with your address system.
Much love,

Japan is the one with the nutty addresses, Brasilia is built on a Cartesian axis! :p |
