Where does your family live, Whiskers?
|
my family lives 2 driving hours away from me, but it's a pain in the ass to go visit because i don't have a car, paying $50 for the bus is kinda expensive, and getting rides - well, i'm a loser, so i don't have any friends. bummer.
but when i do go back, it feels ing great! |

when i was little (<10) i used to watch tv for cartoons only, the rest of my free time i'd spend outside hanging out with my friends. good times, just like that calvin & hobbes strip, you realize what you lost only when you lose it and only when it's too late.
yeah, i wish i could do it again... |
yeah, we played outside all the time. When I first met diginut, he would ask what we (my friends and I did) when they were there. When I'd tell him, he'd kind a snicker...bunch a kids' games. Maybe where I am from, you are a kid longer than in America. I think so. |

i wholeheartedly agree, it seems to me that kids here start getting concerned about things like mortgages, cars, etc. at a younger age... but at the same time, kids i knew in russia seemed much more mature than kids their age here. and that's not just my thought, a person who came here from russia told me she thought the same.
i can't really explain my views on the subject because i'm not clear on them myself, but it seems to me that in russia teens and the rising generation tries to enjoy life more, maybe due to the fact that they know life is tough in that country and that it's not gonna be easy. here, everyone's just too spoiled, or so it seems. of course, there are exceptions, but these are my views and my opinions. |

My friends at home are very different from the kids here.
The kids here are more materialistic in general...
maybe I want to say more impulsive. I'm not sure. |

maybe both. but i'm not the one to judge, i moved here when i was 13 and not only i don't remember much, i didn't understand much then.
besides, you could probably write 2 books on this subject... :D |

| I don't mean to sound judgemental. Sorry if I do. I kind of don't fit either "norm." |
